Hops & Barleys Middletown

A cozy little bar with good food, drink, and service. We were pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality of the food. I can’t say I’ve been to too many bars that serve crab-filled grilled cheese! I will say, I think the cheese and tomato soup overpower the crab taste a little, but it was still well prepared and hit the spot. The drinks were great as well. I wasn’t expecting much more than beer (of which they have a large selection of), but they also have some good signature mixed drinks on their menu.

Stopped on way home from MDT. It was trivia night. Crowd was friendly. Service was friendly, attentive and fun. Food was good and plentiful, loving the pepper of the fries.

The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and accomodating throughout our meal, and the food was delicious!
I had the French dip sandwich. The rib meat was rich and tender, the provolone was melted evenly and toasted on top, and the jou was light, peppery, and flavorful, making for a meal that was indulgent and rich without being overly greasy or heavy.
The fries were double fried, crispy, fluffy on the inside and well seasoned with salt and pepper.
My friend got the crab grilled cheese. She loved it, especially pointing out the variety of cheeses used and the thick, crunchy, buttery bread. The tomato soup it came with was rich and flavorful with chunks of fresh tomato added at the end of cooking to imbue them with flavor while retaining their shape.
It was decorated with rustic pieces that made us feel right at home, and it was bustling with community; currently they are collecting donations for the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department!
The next time I come to visit, I will definitely be coming back!

We ambushed Nancy L Stahl and had an absolute blast at Hops and Barleys Middletown. The lobster rolls and old bay fries were ridiculously good. Caprese salad with shrimp was basically the best thing since sliced bread. We met Steve and his staff and they were ridiculously nice. You should check this place out if you want some amazing grub and fun company.

Stopped by with my ex-husband & my daughter for food & a couple drinks.
I got the American burger 🍔, my Ex-husband got the boneless chicken wings, mild; my daughter got the cheese steak.

Beautiful decorated, wonderful atmosphere, amazing staff, and fresh meals with big portions. Will be here again

The quesadillas are crazy good. Better than both of my favorite Mexican restaurants near where I live in Scranton. Actually might come back just for more quesadillas

My sisters and I came in here the day after we lost our Mother. Every single person working greeted us with a smile. We met Steve the owner, and we mentioned to him that we had lost our Mother the previous day. He immediately gave his condolences and invited us back the following day, to decorate stockings. We came back and were greeted by Linny, the beautiful bartender. We ate, drank and decorated the stockings. It was a very nice distraction. Service was 5 stars. Food was 5 stars. Atmosphere also 5 stars! We will be back!!!
P.S. You never know what people are going through. Kindness goes a long way.
