Gem City Diner is such a cozy, feel-good breakfast spot. The service is super friendly, and the menu has a great mix of classic dishes and fun, creative combos. I tried the Western omelet and the Gem city omelet which had blackberry jam, burnt ham and brie omelet, and wow, I didn’t know I needed that in my life. Our server also recommended the special waffle with marmalade and champagne whipped cream, which quickly became my favorite (minus the champagne part 😄).
Had a great time here and will definitely be back soon.

What a wonderful Breakfast! The omelettes were fabulous. We had the avocado and the signature. Both were delicious. The multi grain toast was refreshing. Everything was clean and the wait staff was very courteous and accommodating. Best breakfast in Erie I've ever had.

Went for late brunch with friends and had a great time! Good portions and our waitress was great.
Great local dinner. Food is food. The portions are big and best of all it's BYOB. Great for 3rd shifters. Staff is great.

So I went to Gem City. Workers from a sitting position said pick a seat anywhere. Took 20 ish mins for breakfast. I set my fork down for 15 mins and finally came over. I’d just say train staff to engage with customers more.

Just had one of the absolute worst breakfast experiences at Gem City Diner. The food was average at best the first time I was here especially for the price. I decided to give it another try and today, they had advertised a southern breakfast which was supposed to be topped with over medium eggs. Sounds good to me because I hate the whites runny, so would have asked for that anyway. It comes to the table and the eggs are broken and slimy whites all over the rest of the breakfast. Okay, fine. I asked to have them redone expecting to set the eggs on the little plate we had at the table and just have them replaced. The server takes my entire plate so I’m sitting watching everyone else in my party eat. I get it back and same issue. Instead of asking them to be swapped I asked for a different order of over medium eggs considering another person in my party got over medium without an issue. The cook, and come to find out owner comes to the table with one of the worst attitudes and says “so you just want scrambled eggs.” No hi, hello, nothing. Just yells at me telling me that the slimy white egg mess are over medium. I guess the combined 36 years of working/cooking in restaurants between us at the table had no idea what we were doing all that time. I’m appalled at how I was spoken to especially by the owner of a business. I just wanted some eggs that wouldn’t make me gag. 🤷♀️ Needless to say second experience was worse than the first and I definitely won’t be back.

Worth a wait on Sunday mid morning. Best Benedict we can recall, and corned beef hash comes in delightful delish slab. One of our fave diners (or dinors). Recommend. (Also worth noting quirky, playful art on walls, along w fun artifacts.)
