Was in the area for Steel City Con and wanted to stop at a non chain resturant for lunch. Anyone looking for fresh delicious subs. This is the place! I got the Riveria coupe sized cheesesteak and couldn't finish it. It was huge! Service was fast and the staff was super friendly . If I am ever back in the Monroeville area I will be coming back. :-)

The best cheesesteaks in Monroeville! Staff is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is one of a kind! Got the Devil and Z-28 which were phenomenal as always, also tried the turbo sauce which I can only describe as a spicy italian buffalo sauce - highly recommend getting the turbo cheese fries. Been coming here for years and have never been disappointed the food is always delicious!

I am a Philadelphian, and I am proud of that fact. Because of this, I take my cheesesteaks seriously. And try as I might to find a spot in Pittsburgh (or really anywhere outside of Philly/S Jersey) that does a good cheesesteak there’s almost always something missing or worse, something added that just takes away from the simple goodness that defines a cheesesteak.

Luckily, Carhop’s exists. Today I stopped in for lunch for the first time with my family and finally, I have found a restaurant outside Philadelphia that understands how to construct the cheesesteak with honor and dignity. I ordered their Z-28, which is steak, american cheese (no one in their right mind puts cheez-wiz on a steak and if someone says that’s how they do it in Philly they are lying), fried onions, and garlic. I’ll be honest, I was skeptical of the garlic- this is a non-standard cheesesteak addition BUT after eating this sandwich I am wondering why this isn’t a Philly staple??

To say this cheesesteak was phenomenal is an understatement. Everything about it, including the garlic, was perfect. The meat was exactly how it should be, greasy (in a good way!), chopped up fine, with plenty of fried onions and deliciously melty american cheese. The bread, which is where 99% of places outside of Philly go wrong, was incredible. The perfect amount of density and chew that is required in a cheesesteak. So many Pittsburgh shops go wrong by using what I like to call, “angel bread”- bread that is so soft it has no structural integrity and falls apart under the slightest pressure. I don’t know where Carhop’s gets their bread but I’m glad they know that a good sandwich (especially a cheesesteak) starts with good bread.

My boyfriend got the Super Sport, which I had a bite of and it was also great (the pepper relish is AMAZING do not skip it!!!). I’ll probably come back with another review of their other sandwiches, that is, if I ever manage to order something besides the cheesesteak.

Thank you Carhop’s for making Philly feel a little less far away today. I’ll be back, often.

It was my first time going there today. I decided to find a new hoagie place to go to. The employee were welcoming and helped me and my mother figure out the menu since it was our first time going there today. The french fries and the Mercedes Benz hoagies I ordered were delicious! Will definitely going back there.

Food is great! Sandwiches are MASSIVE but delicious. We had the Corvette Chicken sub. 1/2 is a footlong!!!! Turbo fries are a MUST!!!!! Not sure what's in that spicy, taste elixir but sign me up for an I.V. of that stuff. Family owned and operated. If you haven't been there by now your missing out!

There aren't many places like this left in the world. Family-owned. Making the same awesome sandwiches since the mid 90s. You can't go wrong with any of them but my personal favorite is the GTO. Limited hours so make sure you get there early... once they sell out the doors close. (Unlock the secret menu by asking Aimee if she has any boiled eggs. You won't regret it.)

this is easily one of the cutest spots I've been to around Pittsburgh the decor is amazing and the people inside are so kind my friend was short about $.40 and before she even told him how much she had , The man working asked her how much she had and told her it was OK and just enjoy the sandwic. the workers are so kind of attentive and really made sure that my friend got exactly what she ordered. on top of how clean and adorable the inside, the customer service, and kind workers, the food was incredible. everyone should go to carhops at least once. I would travel here from any part of Pittsburgh!

Drove in from Illinois for a business trip and wanted a cheesesteak and looked up Carhop's Sub shop. This place did not disappoint! We ate there twice and took 6 cheesesteaks back to Illinois for family members to eat. Can't wait to go back and try the Corn beef sandwich! See ya soon!
