My first time at Mad Mex was memorable. I went here with my partner who recommended the place since we used to live in Monroeville and always saw the place when driving to the stores but never went in to dine. The interiors and the vibe was very modern and hip, the service was phenomenal and the food wasn't bad either. I ordered the tofu dish since I'm vegetarian and ordered their watermelon fresca since they didn't have orchata like they do in most Mexican restaurants. Both was delicious, I may say. I will say though that the prices in their menu is pretty high, but it's all worth it if you can afford to splurge once in a while. Afterwards, we ordered dessert and got the Mexican brownie with ice cream and it was huge so it was worth the price. My partner ate most of the brownie while I gorged on the ice cream. Over all, I would recommend the place and we will definitely come again.

Service was bad. They needed to stagger seating. Just kept seating people with no one to wait on them. We tried to be understanding but our waitress just never come to our table. She left our bill and we waited another 20 mins to pay and that was after we tried to pay at the bar and a guy cleaning a table took our payment. I could go on and on but I won’t. I could hear others complaining as we left.

The Gobbleritos are legendary
Ordered takeout and everything was good except the amount of chips given for the 'pickadip'. Got about 20 total chips for 3 whole containers of sauce. I know times are hard but what in the world is going on over there. See picture for total chips received.

The food was okay. The service was good. the guacamole needs lime juice so i mixed it salsa and it turned out good. the queso dip was also good. The general z. sauce on the wings was a bit heavy. it might be better if i had it with steamed rice. the turkey gravy on the turkey burrito (the gobblerito) tasted a bit like mashed potatoes. i don't know about this one. if you want the real thanksgiving dinner this menu is not for you.

A fun place but the food is bland and the quesadillas barely have any cheese in them. I've gone here a few times and tried a few things (burrito, fish fajitas, fish tacos) and while the food isn't bad, it certainly isn't authentic Mexican and it's pretty bland. The bar atmosphere is lots of fun, so if you just want drinks and something to line your stomach, this is your place. If you want authentic Mexican food, look elsewhere.

We came to Mad Mex because my wife had heard good things. We almost did a few months ago but I opted for a food truck that made excellent street tacos instead.
Definitely a restaurant that is bigger on the inside and they have plenty of outdoor seating when the weather is better. We were seated in a corner booth and it was nice having all the space since it was just the two of us.
We started with waters, an aguas frescas, and the Pickadippa with grilled corn salsa, guacamole, and queso blanco. The queso blanco was the highlight for me.
My water was barely empty when a gentleman came and not only went to get me more, he bought a decanter of water too. Turns out, he was the manager and he was fantastic. Every time I looked up, he was at another table helping.
My wife ordered the Gobblerito and really liked it. I got the beef brisket birria tacos but every time sizzling fajitas went by, I second guessed myself. My tacos were good, just some fatty pieces in the brisket and one chewy bit.
Our waitress Hanna did a great job checking in with us throughout the meal as well and was a pleasure to deal with.
I think next time, I'll try the fajitas or a different type of taco, but I was really pleased with the visit overall!
