The food was horrible. We ordered Steak Fajitas and they legit came out raw, super pink and bloody. Queso tasted like it came out of the Tostitos Jar of Queso you can buy at a store. The service was terrible. The waiter never talked to us or came to check on us. If you're looking for a good Mexican place anywhere is better than here

Do yourself a favor and don’t DoorDash from this place. I’ve consistently enjoyed the California salad with steak over the past few years. It’s been probably a good five or six months since I’ve ordered one. It is not a $20 salad. I think I had three slices of steak on it. it looks like somebody just threw some mixed greens into a container and said the hell with it. Totally gone downhill.

Can't go wrong with Mad Mex. Particular location is pretty cozy. Everything was just on point.

I might be an old school original. I have been going to Mad Mex since the 90's. I like the fajita burrito and chimichanga. The Margaritas are not as good at they used to be as well as the wings.

We had nachos. They were good as long as they come up fast. Last time they came out slow when they were cold. Same location.

It was busy. 2 days before Christmas. Service was a bit slow...because it was busy. There was a drunk guy speaking very loudly and trying to make a move on someone at the bar. That was distracting and annoying.

Ordered some fries from here. They were the greasiest fries I’ve ever had in my entire life. Had me gagging. When I bit into the fries, grease just squirted out. Very disappointing.

Wow - can't believe I missed reviewing this Mad Mex until now. I have eaten at several Mad Mex locations - all good - and each with its own ambience. The Monroeville location feels like the "fun uncle" of the bunch. This was especially true when hubby and I ate at the bar on a November evening. It was like we had a free floor show. They were super busy and it was all hands on deck, but we still didn't wait very long for our meals. All the locations feature Tex-Mex décor that feels both rustic and fun. Mad Mex, part of the Big Burrito Group of restaurants, doesn't feel like a chain. That said, the food has the consistent quality you expect from a chain. One benefit of the corporate oversight for me is that staff is, for the most part, well educated re: allergens. (Plus their website is helpful.) They regularly substitute corn tortillas for the flour ones for me, with no decline in quality of the food. Mad Mex has a very creative and diverse menu - complete with the standards you can rely on and the seasonal surprises. This includes the margaritas, which highlight the flavors of the ingredients instead of drowning them in sugar. Sometimes, when I mention Mad Mex to someone they reply "I don't like Mexican food." To that I reply, it's not Mexican, it's Mad Mex. I enjoy both, but appreciate the difference.
Recommended stop if you want decent Mexican food in respectable portions. Everyone goes nuts over the gobbler/T-giving burrito, which I've tried once and found to be interesting. . Good tap list of semi-local beer, reasonable pricing. It's a Pittsburgh traddy, I suppose.

Mad Mex is a favorite in my family so we come here on a semi-annual basis. I arrived at 11 and sat at the bar. the staff was friendly and accommodating of my complicated gift card order and took care of it while I was waiting for my food. I tried the Mad Mex Quesadilla and it was quite good. I went with the steak option and the meat was cooked just right, not too chewy. It was a smaller entrée in general, but worked well for a small lunch.

I am a black woman and the service made me feel uncomfortable with the bar tenders as if I didn’t belong. The manager was nice and helpful. The food was all old and not tasteful on Steelers game day. Taste like they made all the food ahead and reheated the food. NEVER going again….ill rather go to hello
