It's been about 35 years since I've been to this gem of a Bistro and finding out it was still there, I stopped in on a recent visit to the area. STILL the best FISH SANDWHICH ANYWHERE!
Drove from OH to meet friends who live in PA for dinner, & they suggested Back Door Tavern. Six dinners & no complaints! Pictured is the HALF Pittsburgh fish sandwich (fresh, fried fish... complete with a bone, coleslaw, french fries on a crispy roll. Tartar & cocktail sauce offered on the side). The sandwich was so giant I had to take half home. The others ordered a burger, three steak salads & one plain jane ham & cheese. Very extensive beer selection, both...
Great food. Great service. Met one of the employees as he was walking in to start his shift. He said his name was Andrew. He was very nice. He went above and beyond to see how my day was going. I’m definitely coming back to this place!
