Perhaps not a surprise to locals, but Skunk and Goat Tavern is a great place to go when traveling on I-90. Situated in downtown North East, PA, this is a charming spot with very tasty, well-prepared dishes, a great selection of cocktails, beer and wine. Service at the bar (we didn't have a reservation and the dining room was packed) was excellent. We will definitely return next time we're passing through.

My partner and I had been wanting to try this place for months, after seeing the billboard Best burger, on our trips home from New York. We finally did Friday evening. My partner did get a burger and I also had intended on getting a burger, however there were only two to choose from, with a third being a pork belly burger. Instead, the chicken and gnocchi entree caught my eye and so that’s what I ordered. First the positives: this place was clean and the atmosphere was very upscale for a tavern. Our server was friendly and attentive, to the point of almost filling my sprite glass with water, when she saw the glass was almost empty. The cons: there are not really any accommodations for shellfish allergy. I had wanted an appetizer, however, I was advised by our server that all of them were fried with the shrimp. For claiming best burger, you’d definitely expect more than two burgers. They are very thin, similar to smash burgers. They are cooked well done and were dry. The sauce on the burger tasted foul. My partner tried to wipe it off, but it had saturated the bun. The pickles, I’m guessing they make homemade, still tasted like cucumbers as if they had not been pickled long enough. The best part of the meal was the chicken, which they baked, due to the shellfish allergy( it is normally fried the server advised) was moist and pull apart. Thankfully, the chicken was good, because the gnocchi was crunchy and dry on the inside. The sauce was very bland, like it didn’t have any seasoning. We aren’t the type to send things back, we pay for the meal we order, whether we like it or not. No fuss, especially during a busy dinner time. Hopefully, this is seen as constructive feed back. This place has amazing reviews, but just seems it fell short of the high expectations we had set in our minds.

We had a little dog with us, Jessica the manager made accommodation for us in front of the restaurant outside dining area, she turned on the heat, and made the experience warm and pleasant, my wife ordered black bean burger and I ordered a steak salad with their house craft IPA, the food and service were awesome, I highly recommend this tavern for food and drinks!

five star dining in a cozy town atmosphere! the craft beverages with homemade syrups were delicious. we started with a mountain of loaded tots, and the pulled BBQ was stellar. i had the eclipse special ribs with a spicy pineapple sauce, and they were some of the best ribs i have ever had. my group also enjoyed the scallops and the pork belly burger. we all left full and completely satisfied. the staff were all kind and efficient. the bathrooms were clean and worth a trip to see the wallpaper in the ladies room! overall, an amazing experience and we hope to be back!

Great food and service. My wife and I went to celebrate her graduation and I wanted to take her to a nice restaurant. I remember eating there before with my in-laws and enjoying it. I'm very pleased with every part of our experience. I would definitely recommend the Skunk and Goat!

The food was absolutely Amazing the chicken cooked well the sauce absolutely delicious. The only down fall I saw was the server seemed to be alone with a single runner to help him. Even in that case the server was attentive, able to keep up with the room and we didn't wait long at all for our orders to be taken or for our food to arrive. I truely think the company needs more waiters though. I felt bad for him running around so much but he took it great stride.

What a lovely place! It's in a former bank and not very big, not fancy but pleasant atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and great portions for the prices. I had grilled cheese and tomato bisque with basil. There was plenty of cheese and the bread stayed crisp and oohhhh sooo good!!! The soup was good, may a tiny heavy on the basil but very creamy and great on a chilly day. My husband had the beef brisket mac'n cheese. That was amazing!! The mac 'n cheese was creamy and flavorful. The brisket....ohhhh wow! Tender with just a touch BBQ sauce which was perfect. I tasted his and hands down the very best beef brisket I've ever had anywhere!!! Highly recommend this restaurant!!

We were in North East, PA, on April 8, 2024, for the Eclipse. My husband and I had been to Skunk & Goat a few times over the years. So we knew where to take our group on Eclipse Day! We were pleasantly surprised to find they were open for breakfast. I don't know if it was just because of the Eclipse or if that's usual. So we had both breakfast AND dinner there. Everything was wonderful! There was supposed to be 7 of us, but two people backed out last minute. It was their loss to have missed the great meals and service the 5 of us had there (twice!) that special day!
