Good beer, food trucks and pinball

Beer is good Service is hit and miss. Some of the bartenders are great, others not so much. Owner of the brewery is a drunk.

The best brewery in the area. Thank you Helicon for creating some of the best beer flavored beer from the Hefeweizen, the wheats, the IPAs and the Stouts. Totally amazing place to hang out. We've been visiting since opening day and now it's 7 years later. Cheers to you are friends at Helicon Brewing. ?

Neat spot, good brews, and scads of pinball machines! No food, check food truck schedule.

This is a fun brewery with an interesting twist. They not only have in-house brewed beer, but also a room filled with pinball machines. It gives off a fun atmosphere and an activity to do whether you are there alone or with friends. I was surprised that many of the games were $1 to play. Seems pretty high from other pinball bars I've visited. The pinball room takes up most of the indoor space, but there is a small bar with some seating available. Most space is outside, where there are picnic and high top tables. People also brought lawn chairs so they could relax outside. There are only a few in-house beers, but they all sound delicious and I ordered the raspberry wheat ale. It was a nice mix of sweet and bitter, while also mainly tasting like a refreshing beer. They don't have a kitchen, but they do bring in food trucks regularly if you get hungry. I liked it and hought it was a nice place to enjoy nice weather and relax.

What a cool place!!! We stopped in on a Tuesday evening to check out out. You can tell they're a brewery first and produce a short, but very respectable list of beers. You can tell the brewer cares a lot about the craft. The classics like their Festbier, a German lager in the style of Oktoberfest (which actually happens in September ?) don't push boundaries, but form an impeccable foundation for people who just want a good, simple beer. On the other end of the spectrum, their Brombeer Limette is creative and complex, delightful for even the most critical and adventurous. Although they call it an "IPA", it genuflects toward a good sour. It's basically a big garage/warehouse with a few picnic tables and a huge lawn. Tons of parking. Absolutely the kind of place you come with a group on a summer or fall evening. A great place to relax, unwind, and hang out with friends. No real food to speak of but we saw people had brought pizzas and other stuff with them. If you want a seat, you might want to bring a lawn chair although they do have a few stools around. What really sealed it though was the pinball! They have like 20-30 pinball machines from super classic 50's models, to the super modern ones that are partly video games. They even had The Addams Family, a pinball game I was totally addicted to when I was a college student in the mid 90's. I dropped $10 on that and it was the purest, most unadulterated fun I've had in a long time. There was some sort of pinball league/tournament going on that night and it was fun just to watch people play, too!Even if we don't end up moving to this neighborhood, I have a string feeling we'll be back here!

Been a great place for pinball and beer for years now.

Great location right next to the Panhandle trail. Good drinks, and a lot of pinball games. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. If you haven't made it down to Helicon I would highly recommend you do. They don't serve hot food but they do have food trucks there weekly. Also live music every Thursday in the summer.

Went there for a pinball tournament. Decided to play the video slots. I hit their jackpot for $3752. Tickets printed out with $1252 and $2500. Bar didn't have the money to pay me what was owed. Sent me on a wild goose chase to pick up remainder at the other location. Shorted me $1054. So, beware of the scam.

Helicon is huge! But very awkwardly laid out. There is ample field parking (seemed a bit chaotic) where people sit outside in their own chairs with coolers. Even though signs say no outside drink, we saw a handful of people bring their own. Not enough tables for the amount of people either. The beers were all good - I liked the raspberry wheat and the addition of food trucks is smart. The place is ok. Not much out there so brings in Oakdale residents. Nice to see local places being supported.

This place has exceptional beer. Is near a beautiful rail trail. Allows picnicking and tailgating on their grounds. And if that ain't enough, has an incredible collection of old and new pinball machines! About 20-25? What is not to love?
