Walked in on a Tuesday around 1pm. 4 ladies sitting at one table but the rest was vacant.Waited 2 minutes at the front to be seated. No one came. Walked back to see the posted menu on the wall. No one yet..Walked back to the front and waited around an additional minute. No one showed, so I walked out and went to sheetz.Eat here fast if you like it. With that level of service, I don't think they will be there much longer

This review is meant to be completely constructive; I really want this place to do well since the people working there were really nice. But the decor was really off-putting. The lottery machines in the corner are bizarre and make me think this might have money problems if they need those to supplement their income. Plus the mannequin near them was weird too, we sat far away from it (and we noticed no one sat near it while we were eating too.)Food was meh, not terrible but very overpriced for what we got. Everything was cooked well, but I felt like the ingredients were really really cheap (like they got everything from Walmart). The coffee was self-serve drip coffee, so I'm not sure if this can be called a "cafe". I did see an espresso machine behind the counter, but when I asked for coffee I was directed to the drink table.Really felt like a college dining hall or similar. You order at the counter, they bring the food out to you, and you clear your own plates.Maybe we will try again if they get rid of the lottery machines? In the meantime, we will just stick to our usual breakfast places in Robinson.

Honestly want this place to succeed, but the atmosphere is extremely uncomfortable. eating there feels like a soup kitchen or college dining hall. The all grey interior with scattered Pittsburgh decor, feels like there was little care given to the design of the interior. Definitely and area that can be improved. However the 2 biggest issues I had was the mannequin (VERY weird and creepy to have in a restaurant) in the front corner and the random slot machines. It's very odd to me that everything in the place struck me as cheap, then you have these HUGE slot machines. It just feels sleezy having those in the place you are trying to enjoy a meal with someone.

My friend and I love going out to breakfast on the weekends and trying different spots. This weekend we stopped by Cafe des Amis. We each ordered French toast with bacon.I ordered the bananas foster and his was just plain. My French toast was absolutely great. It tasted so good! However, his was a bit mushy - like as if it sat in the egg for too long. Our bacon was a little overcooked for our liking but still fine to eat. I personally like my bacon cooked medium. So it really depends on how you like it!The service was just fine. I love just going to the counter, placing an order, taking a number and having the choice of where to sit! As for the aesthetic, it's a bit plain and underwhelming. I think adding plants, pictures/wall decor, some variety of color will really make the restuarant feel welcoming! I definitely will be back sometime to try more items on the menu!?

Went here for a Friday breakfast. Nice simple food, straight forward no complaints from me or anyone in our party. Self service for the coffee, plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. I had the western omelette and really appreciated the fresh peppers in the omelette. Coffee was good, but definitely a no frills breakfast. I am sure we will try again.

This is a fantastic place to rent for a party! I had my sister's bridal shower here yesterday afternoon. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. I worked with Jourdan for catering and she responded to all of my questions quickly and the food turned out great! The restaurant itself is set up well for a shower and it was easy to find a home for everything. It also has plenty of parking. I will be recommending Cafe des Amis to everyone I know for all of their future party rental needs. Thank you for being apart of my sister's special day and helping us create an amazing experience for her and all of our guests!

Unfortunately, had a pretty poor experience at this location of Cafe Des Amis. I grew up visiting the Sewickley location here and there, and despite switching ownership a few times, the food was always good and fairly authentic. When the Robinson location was announced, my husband and I were so excited to try it! I'm sad to say that we were left wanting so much more than what we experienced when we visited for breakfast a few weeks back. Unlike the original location, the menu feels like a far cry from anything remotely French. The offerings feel more right down the middle diner-y than like that of a French cafe, and many items are all a la carte rather than in a meal format. There are not the traditional displays of french salads or pastries or desserts, but rather a small rotating cooler of sad pie slices and mousse (many of the spaces not replenished after the dessert had clearly been purchased). The ambiance is incredibly off-putting, it feels like a warehouse rather than a cozy restaurant with the gray paint and oppressive fluorescent lighting, and there are huge neon-lit betting and gambling machines taking up significant space in the dining area. Very little in the way of decor, minus some very loud Pittsburgh prints/paintings. Again, not at all aligning with the decor or vibe of the original location, or with anything French or cafe-adjacent. I tried the breakfast sandwich and my husband tried the burrito, and we split a sweet crepe. The food itself was fine at best - pretty flavorless, but with decent portions. After you order at the counter, you serve yourself coffee in styrofoam (??) cups and grab pre-rolled silverware and salt/pepper/hot sauce from a large table. It felt very much like having breakfast in a church gathering hall more than anything else, but the price of our meal approached $40 for a pretty mediocre spread - the price did not match the quality. The self-service coffee was weak and had a sour aftertaste, and the silverware was greasy/covered in food specks. We were pretty floored by the whole experience, and not in a positive way. I really, really want to like this place because I have nostalgia for the original location, and I hope they figure it out, but they need to make some MASSIVE changes in order for me to consider going back at any point. I wish them the best and hope things improve!

Nothing special. Ordered the chicken fiesta omelet and the turkey pesto panini. The omelet is HYGE and the veggies are fresh but the chicken is processed prepackaged meat. The kind you see next to the Lunchables at the grocery store. For $11.25 I expected real chicken . It came with a side salad which had cherry tomatoes, red onion and cucumbers and a small container of honey mustard dressing (there was no option to chose your own dressing). Salad was small but good. The turkey pesto panini came with roasted red potatoes which were actually kind of spicy. The actual panini was really fresh and tasty. The portion was big and you can tell it was handmade. Big thick slice of tomato and extra fresh spinach! All in all I think it's a tad overpriced but I'm happy with the order besides the processed chicken in the omlete

I thought I was just stopping in at an everyday diner for a quick breakfast. I was very pleasantly surprised! The food was great and staff very pleasant. The coffee was self service, which I actually like. This is my new go to place breakfast in the area!

The atmosphere was cold and not a breakfast vibe. The electronic menu on the wall .Not user friendly. Omelet was tasty but no toast or potatoes offered. Upgrade to a sausage patty that was over cooked and processed. I like breakfast to be a happy experience. This place made me sad.Nearly 40 dollars for two mediocre breakfast. Coffee was luke warm and serve yourself. I don't like ordering at the counter and being ask to tip before the service is performed. A counter would be more inviting the a self serve coffee bar.I was hoping for a new breakfast spot in the area. This isn't it. .

Both had French toast, food was ok. Very quiet for a Saturday morning, but self serve coffee was out for a while, seemed like they were minimally staffed. Something must have burned because the entire dining area was a bit smoky to the point it was irritating my husband’s throat. Had to pull out 4 sets of silverware from the self serve area before I found ones clean enough to use. First impressions matter, and this was not stellar.
