I have never had a bad meal at "The Speakeasy." The restaurant strikes a rare balance, being upscale yet cozy. The portions are gargantuan so expect to bring home lots of leftovers! If you are eager to have dessert and started with an appetizer you should probably only eat about a quarter of your entree. Not even joking!Service can be slow so I don't recommend that you try to have a quick meal here. If you are desiring a long leisurely dinner with family or to spend a romantic evening with your significant other, The Speakeasy is the perfect place. My family often does birthday dinners here. There is a quaint and quiet patio tucked behind the restaurant. Great place to sit and have a glass of wine on a pleasant day. ?Most dishes come with a side (get the mashed potatoes if you opt for a steak or porkchops!). All entrees come with a choice or soup or side salad. I am a top-tier salad snob and the salad is lackluster IMO. They make absolutely delicious soups in house. ??They do have several pasta dishes but I have a wheat sensitivity (in addition to lactose intolerance) so I haven't tasted most of them. I do on occasion cheat on my diet and get the angel hair with pine nuts appetizer. It is outstanding!I had duck with cherries and rice pilaf last night and it was wonderful!

I think our waitress was Brenda, she was the best waitress we’ve had in a very long time, efficient and thoughtful. Everything came out perfectly with her timing.! It was our first time at the restaurant, food was excellent, cooked to perfection. Being Easter they had a nice crowd. We will definitely be back. It’s not a big restaurant so make reservations.

From the moment you arrive, Deb will greets you you like family! But don't be fooled, she owns this wonderful historic establishment and the food is spectacular. Need I say more? Extensive wine list fit for royalty and connoisseurs alike. The appetizers top notch but be prepared for delicious entrees, bread and classic desserts some of which you may have not expected. This hidden gem is our new go to for a girls night out but if you want to impress a date or that sweet wife on your anniversary don't wait! Score those points now!!!

First time visiting and I am definitely underwhelmed. After hearing good things for many years my family visited to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is quaint, a little dark and if you’re sitting anywhere near the door, there was smoke coming in from smokers outside on and off the whole time.It wasn’t very crowded and the service was mostly friendly but slow. The appetizer salads were basically just lettuce out of a bag but the house made dressings were good. The rolls were good but they were extremely delayed in bringing them to the table. The portions were just okay and most of the food at the table was average at best. For the price, you’d enjoy your meal 1000x more at Clifford’s.Overall, I would not return as the quality of food and level of service does not match the price point.

I could NOT EAT the OLD REFRIGERATOR SMELLY, SALTY FOODS! Paid and went to another place! HORRIBLE!Bypass this restaurant listen to the previous review. It almost ruined my birthday! You will regret this place. "Comically awful" food is right! Food is terrible service is equivalent. If I could make it (-1) I would.

Lousy! Food was old and tasted like an old unclean refrigerator. $53.00 for one person. 2 old salty crab cakes were served. I couldn't eat any of this food. My stomach actually hurt and I got a headache after eating this food. So in short...BAD does not even describe this one. Jesus, please find them BETTER SERVICE for customers. I rate the meal (-1) being totally fair!

The speakeasy was very short staffed, wasn't expecting that invited friends so wasn't bad but not a great atmosphere.
The restaurant is up a steep driveway off Route 65 just past Emsworth if you're heading away from town. We started coming here 3 years ago after friends suggested it. The ambiance is very old school, not anything special. But the food is really good. My partner says it's the best Chicken Piccata he's ever had! I have tried lamb, scallops, salmon, and filet. Most items are easily done gluten free except pasta. I have never been disappointed. They take reservations by phone and can accommodate larger groups. One of the best things - you can bring your own wine for a small corkage fee. The bar is cozy and has a good bartender. You can eat there if you choose. Give it a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised!!

Service was great and atmosphere is exactly what you would expect for a restaurant in a house — very kitschy and dated, but in a fun way.I got the pineapple salmon, which had granules of sugar still in it. No one at our table particularly enjoyed their meal.

Comically bad food. Ironically unironic tacky decor. Obviously frozen and microwaved food. Oh, and you pay a premium for all of the above. We should have known when the salads (see photo) came out that our $50/plate entrees were going to be sub-par; we weren’t expecting barely edible. How can you ruin a baked brie with berry sauce? Freeze it, I suppose, microwave it, and pour gritty red tasteless goo all over it.
