Main Street Bar and Billiards

My girl and I are in town for a few days. We were looking for a hangout kind of place to get a bite and a drink, watch the game and shoot some pool. This place popped up on Google with decent reviews, so we gave it a shot.

When we walked in, it looked like a dive bar kind of atmosphere (which, to be fair, it was). We were surprised to see people smoking inside, but it was nice not to need to go out in the cold to hit our vapes. The food menu had a good amount of options, but it was all your general pub fare and our expectations were mediocre at best. We could not have been more wrong.

The food was outstanding! I got the Main Street Burger and she got the Steak Sandwich. It was 50 cent wing night, so we got a dozen of those as well. 6 Hot Ranch and 6 of a special pineapple teriyaki. Both flavors of wings were great, but the Hot Ranch were next level. The Burger and Sandwich were both delicious. Even the fries, which looked like normal Pub fries, had a great flavor that was unexpected. I honestly can't say enough about how unexpectedly great the food was.

Great food aside, the reason for the 5 star review was the service. There was one bartender (Ashley) working on a Steelers game night at a bar in Pittsburgh. Needless to say, It was pretty busy. We sat at a table and were perusing the menu, expecting to need to go to the bar to order once we decided. Ashley stepped away from the bar and served us at the table. She went through the specials, answered our questions and was attentive throughout the entire evening. She checked on us to see how the food was and to replenish our drinks. Watching her at the bar was impressive as well. She was taking care of all guests with the same care she gave to us. After we ate we went upstairs to shoot pool. At last call, Ashley came up to find us to see if there was anything else she could get us and came back up to bring us the check when we tabbed out. Service like this is unfortunately rare.

Great food and exceptional service like this has made Main Street a place i will look forward to visiting again whenever i travel through Pittsburgh. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Great bar check it out

Idk her name, but midnight on friday, the female barkeep was absolutely the best! I know she was busy AF but totally on top of it! Great job, sorry I didn't get your name, we were bar hoppin, but she instantly knew I needed another beer without me sayin a word. Give her a raise omg great employee.

This is a must for anyone coming into Pittsburgh! Best wings, best beer and lots of ladies

It’s a fun little neighborhood hangout located a stones throw from Lawrenceville. Friendly service, dart leagues, music, plus drink and food specials for local sporting events

As kitchen manager in the area, I can say the food has been very good. Cindy, Connie, Mikey, and Ashley have been great bartenders. The new owners are working hard to make this a welcoming and friendly local spot to hang.

What do you want in a dive bar? This has everything I wanted- lots of tvs (one tuned to The Ocho), free darts on Wednesday, a bunch of regulars and young people, a consistent bartender that's friendly, and the ability to take home singles or cases of beer. It's gonna scratch an itch of yours some night, you'd best believe.

Disappointing dining experience. Very indifferent greeting by hostess. On way into this former neighborhood bar converted into an Italian type restaurant signs, some offensive signs are posted in entryway which are off putting. Food is average at best with nothing very creative. There were a number of specials verbally provided by server. Copious quantities.

First time here and had a fantastic meal! Cozy and staff is fantastic. Crab cakes were tasty and the cajun shrimp over fettuccine was a hone run. Highly recommend and already planning our next visit
