Sharing this as a catering review – hard. Really hard. However, the incident is too significant to be overlooked. It has been a week since the wedding and our perspective has not changed.
As clients who paid in full for catering services for 160, we did not receive the contracted amount of food. Brisket, pulled pork, bbq chicken thighs, pasta salad, potato salad, mac and cheese were our wedding reception choices. As the order was placed, well in advance, our decision was to order DOUBLE the amount needed to cover the wedding reception AND serving lunches the next day to our out-of-town guests (who came from as far as Alaska to enjoy the great food…we really bragged on it…) only to have had to cancel that gathering because we never received our full order.

I made direct eye contact with the server, that evening in the midst of the the event, and asked, “Is this it? I specifically ordered double of what I needed” She said “Yes…” with a sheepish nod. But she ended up taking the rest of our order back to the restaurant. Three full pans...supposedly of brisket, chicken and mac and cheese. Yet I was told there was no extra. (We have a walk-in cooler with the capacity and abilities of food storage for the extra pans…which is why we ordered double.) Regardless of this being a first-time event for the server, it was a complete bold face lie to a paid-in-full client at their daughter's wedding. Not to mention during the event NOTHING was refilled. I find it hard to believe in all the events this person has ever participated in for the Spartansburg community for multiple events, charities, volunteering, years in organizing, planning, preparing, documenting, on a yearly basis, that they were that confused about what the right thing to do was. Not sure of the protocol for that is? But was it tossed out? Given away? Served? I don’t know, but it was stated that it was NOT served the next day at the Father's Day Buffet.

According to, I guess some discussions amongst the staff, the “mistake” was recognized that evening. But they didn’t return the food we paid for. According to the owner they usually make MORE to make sure there is enough – which is laughable and makes the 80 meals we paid for and didn’t receive EVEN WORSE.
I communicated the issue on Sunday – completely humiliated after canceling the gathering for that day because we didn’t have ANY food – I didn’t hear back until 10pm Sunday evening. Justifications for one reason or another as to why the issue wasn’t corrected or communicated in a timely manner falls short – like off a cliff! (Life happens. The same family/life/healthcare issues are ones I deal with too…so SAME…and unacceptable.)
The resolution was a credit. Yes, please.
However, the initial credit proposed was not sufficient to compensate for the error. It did not cover the 80 servings that we never received.
160 people x $14 = $2240 Paid for
80 people x $14 = $1120 What we got
$200 gratuity to the server (calculated by the food we did get to eat…which is a 18% cash tip).
We should receive a credit for $1120, but was offered $500..then $550.
Settled at $700 at the very least. That’s us paying for 110 people – ironically including the “extra” they cook for “just in case.” With only 70 attendees, our decision to order extra accounted for overpreparation.
Bottom line – food is fine. We heard “the best brisket I’ve ever had”!
Business decisions and etiquette are not fine.

Food was awesome at the wing buffet, service was terrible, and they have some janky TV package and could not watch the Steelers game.

I will not be going back based on service, but if you're okay with subpar service definitely try their wing buffet.

We decided to try Ashley's pit and pub for our Thanksgiving dinner. We ordered the small complete dinner that serves 8-10 people. It takes a lot to impress me anymore but Ashley's deserves all the praise I can give it. All of the food was excellent, the portions were more than adequate and it was packaged well enough to travel 100 miles without any problems. And the smoked turkey was perfectly done and delicious. Hats off to the crew at Ashley's for a job well done. I highly recommend this establishment.

I've only been here a couple of times and it's a hour drive to get there, but so worth the scenic drive. Both times my family and I went on Sunday when they have the buffet, so make sure to put on the stretchy jeans because you won't want to stop eating. Definitely going again.
