Last evening Our Friends, my Husband & I travelled from Berks County through the snowy weather to meet for our “all our Birthdays Annual Dinner & Drinks” for the first time at The Penguin Hotel.. We All enjoyed the atmosphere, large menu choices, kindness & prompt service of our server Ashlee & delicious food..We had plenty with some leftovers to go by the Hubbies..Plan to definitely return in the warmer weather to enjoy again…Thank You!!

The Penguin Hotel such a hidden gem that I almost didn’t want to write this review—I’d rather keep it my little secret! But it’s just too good not to share.
From the moment you walk in, the cozy and intimate atmosphere sets the tone for a wonderful experience. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. I ordered the Roast Beef and Cheddar sandwich, and it was absolutely perfect—tender, juicy roast beef with melty cheddar on fresh, flavorful bread.
I apologize for not sharing any pictures, but I simply couldn’t wait to dive in! The food was too tempting to let it sit long enough for a photo.
The prices are very reasonable, and while the tavern is small (adding to its charm), I highly recommend making a reservation to secure your spot. If you’re looking for great food, warm service, and a delightful atmosphere, the Penguin Hotel is a must-visit. Just don’t tell too many people about it

Menus choices are plentiful and the food is good. Tasty and generous cocktails and good beer selection. Very clean and comfortable bar and dining room. Service was good considering the barmaid was tending bar and tables solo. Good place to go to for a nice meal.
Parking: A bit tight during busy times.
Kid-friendliness: Dining area appears to be acceptable for children.

We have been coming here for years! We were just here today and it was horrible! Jade and Monica weren't there and the service sucked! It wasn't the fun, friendly place that it usually was. Very quiet atmosphere and the parking lot hardly had any cars on it. The food wasn't as good either and the proportions were much smaller. We were really disappointed! Don't know if we will be back.

We don't know what happened to this place, but we have been coming here for years! We went today and it was not the normal fun, happy, friendly place that it always was. Very quiet and not busy at all. Service was slow and the food was not at all good as it always was. VERY dissatisfied.
Had haddock and pulled pork tacos. They do stuff them pretty good, which was great, ?for that! But lacking flavor. Can't pin point what is lacking. The salsa is good maybe more of that to make up for lack of flavor. Sweet potato fries are not worth the money. Maybe boost the portion. Or hand cut them. Now THAT would be impressive! Instead of serving the fries with individual servings of syrup, see if the chef can make a homemade dipping sauce, like a Raspberry jam. Will go back to try something else.

We arrived at 8:30pm on July 5 after validating online that they were open until 11pm and the owner was absolutely rude. She shouts in the rudest voice “we’re closed”. Even thought the open flag was up and flying. And we said oh the internet said you were open she goes no it’s a holiday weekend. We understand closing but update your website or better yet be kind. She could have been much nicer. We will never be back!
