One of the best subs I’ve tried!!! Such a hefty portion, too. Get the cheesesteak! Service was awesome, such friendly staff. The inside is definitely a vintage sub shop feel. And after you get your sub, go down to the Governor Printz park two blocks away to have a picnic and watch the planes from PHL depart. :)

Take-out only, but you won't be hungry after you have your sandwich from Big Joe's. True mom and pop operation, service can be a bit slow, there's usually just Big Joe and (I believe) his wife here. Place is a bit old and tired too, but you're not here for the ambiance, you're here for the food.But the sandwich is worth the wait. Even if you're a big eater (like me) a "Lil" version of any sandwich is sufficient unless you're buying for two or more. The Special Italian is one of my favorites and I swear there's enough meat and toppings for 2 or possibly 3 sandwiches! It's an "unhinge your jaw like a snake" sub (or grinder or hoagie) and it's messy and glorious at the same time. It's quality ingredients too and a great roll. I've never tried anything else from them, that's how good my usual sub is, but I hear the cheesesteaks are pretty amazing too.Skip the Wawa if you have time and get a sandwich from Big Joe for a true taste of Philly and eastern PA.

Any time that I am in Philly for work I make it a priority to come back to this place! Hands down the very best Philly has to offer when it comes to cheesesteaks! My go to is a 12" steak with grilled onions, mushrooms,jalapeños and extra wiz. I'm already watching my schedule to see when I'll be back.

Had my first hoagie here today, I bet this thing weighed 2lbs! Not only was this big but it was delicious. Very friendly staff, great old school Delco sandwich shop.
