Since I was a kid we have been eating their texas hot dogs. Sorry for those who had a bad experience, however, I have not. I believe they are still the same great dogs I've been getting for years. Service is fast and awesome. Still the 1st place we think of when our grand babies want a hot dog. Again, sorry for those who may may had a bad experience but myself and family have had great food there. Keep doing what your doing. Great dogs

They completely changed there hot dogs and their mac and cheese is garbage 40 dollars down the drain for really disgusting food never thought I'd have a bad experience at this place but today's the last trip for me and my family.
I've been visiting Austin's since it was the location 30(?) years ago that had to be torn down because of the highway being built.
I don't make it out to this location often but I was visiting Altoona today and made the trip to Tipton to treat myself.
Everyone was very friendly and as someone in food service for 35+ years I know the cost of business has never been higher but I think my long standing love affair is over.
I think nostalgia won out over flavor and value the last time I was in a handful of years ago and I see now that I'm not missing what I thought I was. While I like my dogs well seared or even charred I get that isn't a thing hot dog places do so I'm not knocking that. But the fry portion and presentation was awful. I was shocked it came in a small plastic cup and I almost thought they forgot the sauce because it was so hard to spot. While the cup had sauce settled in the bottom that did me little good while eating the majority of fries.
I've spent far less on subpar dogs and I've paid for gourmet dogs that really weren't worth it. I just think that the options for better value are everywhere and even visiting here infrequently is too often.
And while I didn't get the custard is plain vanilla the only and default flavor or was it an off day? I recall the custard being incredble as a kid but I had no interest in just vanilla during this most recent trip.
2/21/25 So disappointed. Hotdogs were tough and rubbery and the FF's were so greasy. They used to be so good. What happened?
Great food... Little expensive but worth every penny
We have been coming to this place and its various locations for decades.
The food is good. The shakes are now smaller and cost more. Their custard prices are way too high compared with other dairy treat competitors.
The staff is, well, ok.
