First of all this place is a bit of a time capsule. Having gone there decades ago it was familiar and nostalgic which I enjoyed. For others it may seem outdated but it is not like anything was tattered or appearing to be worn. Pica's moved to this location in 1956 and many locals myself include grew up celebrating milestones there. I had the Seafood Pescatore and choose the Fra Diavolo sauce. It was a very generous portion loaded with scallops, shrimp, clams and mussels and good sauce. I say good and not great only because I wish it had been a little spicier but in fairness I tend to enjoy "spicier" more than most folks. Service was very good and friendly. My only negative would be when I went to wash my hands after digging through my meal it had to be below 40 degrees in the men's room and it was only 37 degrees outside. I can't imagine that restroom when it was 5 degrees last week. I'm a big guy with a pretty good appetite and the good news is I get to enjoy it again tomorrow night as each of us went home with leftovers!
Stopped in one Sunday for dinner. The restaurant was not busy and yet I was seated next to a large party of 12. They did move me but afterwards rarely checked in. The menu said soap or salad could be added to the meal for $2.99. I requested both and was charged $7,99 for the salad which was comprised of spring mix and carrots from a bag. Overall the meal was mediocre and the service inattentive. Maybe the pizza is better because the place did fill up by the time I left. But my meal and the service -- thumbs down.
Let’s start with the obvious. Comedian Tina Fey brought her favorite home town pizza on stage for Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. This review is about Pica’s pizza as takeout - not the restaurant or well-regarded banquet facility. The magic behind Pica’s legendary rectaular pizza is two-fold. Pica’s oven is the yellow bricked road leading to the Wizard of Oz. Pica’s pizza pans are the ruby slippers that trod softly along the way. Bring at least your favorite cowardly lion because you can’t finish a large Pica’s pizza yourself - but you can rejuvenate a slice from refrigeration hibernation in your oven - toaster or otherwise. I recommend the perfect pepperoni or sizzling sausage toppings. You’ll want to eat it immediately / in the parking lot! DON’T! Don’t eat it as soon as it comes out of the oven - you’ll scorch your tastebuds for days. Open the box and let it breath a bit!
We met a large group of relatives at Pica's. They were able to find a closed off area so that we were isolated from other diners. The waiting staff were amazing coping with 18 people asking for different food and drinks. The pizzas here are unusual in shape being square and huge. The menu does not list toppings, ask and if they have it they will provide. The sauce is above the cheese and the toppings above this. The pizzas are very good and the toppings generous. Many people opted for the pasta options which were well received as was the egg plant parmigiano. There is a good choice of salads and my Greek salad was huge. Good beer choices and the wines are very reasonably priced and enjoyable Everyone had a good time
Really outdated interior and old dingy carpet throughout. Pasta was so overcooked that it didn’t even have its original shape-served broken and soggy. Waitress was great but won’t be rushing back.
Flat, square goodness. Arrives on its own baking sheet. Plain, pepperoni or anything else you want. Down home Delco goodness.
Awesome food. Very nice people. Great prices. Most definitely coming back.
