Federal Donuts & Chicken Radnor

Before Federal Donuts became a franchise, I long enjoyed their original location in Philly. Unfortunately, over the years, these satellite locations just are nowhere close to the quality that Federal Donuts used to have like 6 years ago — especially for their chicken sandwich. What was once an amazing breast of chicken, perfectly cooked — now is mass produced, for fast food. The rubbery chicken looks like McDonalds/Burger King vs a premium chicken sandwich or even ChickFila. At this price point, it’s unacceptable. And whoever is in charge of quality control, sourcing, inventory, and making the decisions to cut corners at the now “corporate” level should really be replaced. Federal Donuts brand is getting bad reviews at nearly every satellite because the cost-cutting/fast food model championed by execs is betraying the loyal PA fanbase of the brand. And philly/PA folks aren’t going to stand for it

Horrible experience. The place doesnt have any real warm feeling while i visited with my family. What I dont understand is, why do they close at 2pm and not later like the rest of the lications? We like to go to them at dinner. The chicken sandwhich was rubbery. Fries were not real hot. It def. Was an off day, but. Would not return.

Declining. Not too long ago for the same amount of money (around $12) I’d get two whole pieces of chicken well seasoned, a honey doughnut and pickles. Now it’s three tenders considerably smaller than my last visit a month ago, and barely seasoned. I get that they’re riding the chicken sandwich wave but it’s looking bad. Hopefully they can regroup.

Super clean restaurant. Patient and friendly staff. Food came out super fresh and hot. Food was great, still miss the bone-in chicken with more options for flavors but i guess it is what it is. Still worth the drop by when I'm down in the area.

Made to order donuts are the best option. They are warm, tender and smell incredible. These are more like a sugar coating. The Fancies, which are in the case, have more of a glaze coating. Their chicken sandwiches are okay, not really what I expected. The chicken is breaded almost like a beer batter consistency, but I prefer more of a crunch. Staff were friendly and helpful. They also sell merch. Location is in a strip mall. Parking isn’t bad but like all strip malls, busy times of day can make it challenging to find a space.

This location is across from Radnor High School. There’s plenty of parking. This was our first time although they did open in September. Phil was very helpful explaining the menu, items, and his favorites. We got 2 original fried chicken sandwiches as well as the sliders which was one each of the original, buffalo, and South Philly. We also got an order of plain fries. We couldn’t not get donuts, too!! We tried the lemon ricotta, chocolate churro, vanilla with sprinkles, and glazed. They have Coke products and Heinz ketchup. Everything was delicious so we are looking forward to having Federal Donuts & Chicken again soon.

I went on 12/28 about 20 minutes before close. Staff was very nice and included a free donut in my meal. Food was delicious and well priced. I would definitely go again.
