I wouldn’t go here based on their business practices alone.
I have never felt more humiliated or disrespected in a public setting. What started as a peaceful outdoor happy hour with friends quickly turned into a disturbing experience that I can only describe as discriminatory and profit-driven. A manager came over to our table—unprovoked—and told us we had to leave because we had been there for an hour and a half. There was no signage or mention anywhere of a time limit, and we were still ordering drinks and waiting on another guest in our party.
Then the owner stepped in and escalated the situation further, speaking to us rudely and demanding we leave unless we agreed to move inside. Strangely enough, no other table was asked to leave. But here’s the part that can’t be ignored: our group was the only one that was racially diverse, with several African American guests at our table. It felt targeted—and intentional.
To make matters worse, they had removed a chair at our table before our final guest arrived, as if trying to prevent him from even joining us. It’s hard not to see this for what it was: a calculated decision based on both race and revenue. It’s clear that the manager and owner were prioritizing profit and appearances over fairness and decency. I can’t help but believe that money and prejudice were both factors in how we were treated.
I will never support a business that tolerates or enacts racist behavior, whether overt or subtle. If you value equity and dignity, I urge you to take your time and money elsewhere.
The food and service are excellent. The owner and managers, however, are terrible, unorganized, and rude to customers. They kicked us out for no good reason other than we stayed too late and it was inconvenient for them and they had not planned accordingly. The owner was, quite frankly, shitty about it.

Food was amazing! Drinks were also great! Service was how it should be. 10/10 experience. After my friend and I left the restaurant, we both kept saying we were still so pleased with how good it was. Dinner occasion with somewhat special and our experience aligned with that, glad we picked bar Avalon and would absolutely do so again.
My wife and have been here many times over the years, but it has been over a year since our last visit. It was a busy night with dining out on the street, but dined inside downstairs. We ordered a cosmo and Angels Envy Old Fashioned to start. The drinks were great but I got a surprise with the bill. A standard old fashioned on the menu calls for Old Granddad and is $28. A shot of Angels Envy on the menu is $17 but when you ask for Angels Envy in an old fashioned...apparently it is $46! Most nice restaursnts charge a mixer fee and then upcharge according to the level spirit you choose. I guess I paid $28 for ice, simple syrup a cherry and bitters.
The entrees were average IMO. We then ordered beignets for dessert...we waited almost 30 minutes for the dessert to arrive. Our server walked past the table numerous times. I am not sure if it was a kitche issue or the dessert was not entered in a timely fashion but this was awkward because we had no water or cocktails for 30 minutes. When dessert arrived the beignets had almost zero sugar on them which is a staple of beignets and the inside was doughy like is was not fried long enough. There are a lot of great restaurants in the area, so I will not be rushing back to Avalon.

Exceptional food and a welcoming ambiance—every dish is a feast for the senses. It’s our go-to spot for celebrations, big or small, and it never disappoints.

We came here for happy hour and had a patio reservation. It was thunder storming when we arrived so we were moved inside. We were then told that happy hour was only for the bar and patio reservations, and that we could not have the happy hour costs despite us having an original patio reservation. Very confused as to why they could not accommodate us in this particular situation, the manager was informed. Nonetheless the drinks and appetizers were good but pricey.
The staff was super friendly and understanding of the situation, but the ordeal was strange.

Kyle is the best bartender. He made a GREAT Spicy Paloma and Hugo Spritz and took great care of the beer drinkers too. We are eating the Short Eggrolls and Tempura Spicy Chicken and they were delish!!! I will definitely visit again…maybe next Friday!!

We are here for happy hour with friends and arrived early to get a seat. Love the specials - both food and drinks - and the bartender is great. Kyle served us and he was so positive and took great care of us! Highly recommend visiting here during happy hour.
