Venue was nice, service was awesome, but the food seems overpriced for what we got. Never had a smaller french dip sandwich in my life, also was served on a brioche bun and not a roll as stated on the menu, which I have never seen before. Didn't enjoy the 3% percent service charge for using a card either.

Would return for a drink to enjoy outside with friends, but will skip on the food next time.

We had a fantastic lunch. Despite it being a weekend and fairly busy, we were promptly seated. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive, the outdoor patio was the perfect spot and all of our dishes were delicious.

Unprofessional and Hostile Management

After a fun tubing trip, our group of 12 stopped in for food and drinks, as we do every year. From the start, the staff seemed irritated. We were told the bill could be split among four cards, which was fine—so we organized it based on who ordered what.

When the check came, our server suddenly insisted the total had to be split into four equal parts—something we were never told upfront. That wasn’t fair, so we asked to speak with the manager.

Mark, the manager, was shockingly rude and aggressive. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, he called the police—falsely claiming we were refusing to pay (we weren’t). We ended up walking to an ATM to get cash just to avoid further escalation.

When we said we’d be leaving a review, he said he didn’t care. It was clear they had no interest in customer service. We won’t be back—and neither will anyone we tell.

Had a great experience here this past weekend, 8-17-2025. Neat place, friendly service with plenty of outdoor seating. Had a pint of the Four Dogs Tavern Brew by Stolen Sun (Drink Local) and the nacho plate is definitely shareable! Will be back for the dessert menu soon.

The level of service and thoughtful accommodation provided to a father using a wheelchair was impressive. From the moment of arrival, the family was treated with incredible kindness and attentiveness.
The family called ahead to make a reservation, mentioning the father's wheelchair. Upon arrival, the manager was waiting for us with a ramp for my father's wheelchair.
Beyond the excellent service, the staff also demonstrated genuine care and went above and beyond to ensure the father's comfort. This level of thoughtful attention made a huge difference and allowed the family to relax and enjoy the meal.
The manager also stopped by the table to check in and ensured everything was to the family's liking, demonstrating a commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests.
It's truly refreshing to find a restaurant that understands and embraces accessibility not as an obligation, but as an integral part of providing an exceptional dining experience. Marshallton Inn is highly recommended not only for its delicious food but also for its outstanding service and genuine commitment to inclusion.

I am writing to provide feedback about a disruptive incident that occurred during my visit on Saturday to your restaurant. My party was seated under the covered area outside and observed the table next to us behaved inappropriately. They were verbally aggressive and yelled at the server and manager. It was uncomfortable to see such behavior, but i want to commend the staff for their professionalism.
Overall, we enjoyed the meal and the service and hope to return to a more peaceful atmosphere.

The Rudest Manager We’ve Ever Encountered

After a fun day of tubing—something we do annually—we decided to stop by for food and drinks as usual. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a hostess who already had an unpleasant attitude. There were 12 of us, and our server, Kerry, showed visible signs of annoyance through her body language. She informed us the bill could only be split between four credit cards, which we were completely fine with.

When the check came, we organized our items into four separate groups based on who ordered what, ensuring each group paid for their own food and drinks. However, Kerry suddenly told us the bill had to be split into four equal parts—something that was not communicated at the beginning. Naturally, we felt this was unfair, since some people had ordered far more than others.

We asked to speak with the manager, Mark, whose approach was shockingly unprofessional. His attitude and body language were downright hostile. He outright refused to split the bill as we had requested. We explained we were more than willing to pay—just not in equal parts since it didn't reflect what each group ordered. Instead of working with us to resolve the situation, he pulled out his phone and called the police, falsely claiming we were refusing to pay. (The police never even showed up.)

To avoid further escalation, we ended up walking to the nearest ATM to withdraw enough cash to cover the bill, despite the unnecessary hassle. When we told him we would be leaving reviews about our experience, he flat-out said he didn't care about reviews.

In all honesty, this type of behavior has no place in the hospitality industry. We were respectful and tried to work toward a reasonable solution, but the management made it abundantly clear they weren’t interested in customer service. We won’t be returning—and neither will the many people we share this experience with.

I had a very disappointing experience due to the extremely rude behavior of the manager, Mark. He was unhelpful, dismissive, and made no effort to accommodate or assist customers. In my opinion, someone with that attitude should not be in a customer-facing role. It's unfortunate when poor management overshadows the rest of the experience.

Beautiful venue. Horrible service. Waitress had an arrogant hateful attitude and was extremely rude. My dinner was absolutely lousy and has made me ill. Thought I discovered a new fun quaint spot to hang with friends….absolutely not! Will not return!

This used to be one of my favorites spots when I lived nearby, and I was so excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was a letdown. I ordered the Reuben, a longtime favorite of mine, but it's not the same sandwich I remember. This version was dry, noticeably smaller, served on different bread, and had barely any sauerkraut.
As a Reuben enthusiast, I know this sandwich well, and this used to be one of the best. What I was served felt like a $12 sandwich with a $22 price tag.
On the plus side, the atmosphere is still as lovely as ever, and the staff was wonderful. However, it seems like the quality of the food no longer matches the high-end prices, which was especially disappointing since I had brought out-of-town guests to share an old favorite. I hope they can bring back the quality that once made this place a standout.
