We had dinner last night at HS, and it's been years since we had been there. I don't know why we haven't been back sooner. The food was even better than I remember-amazing flavors! And our waitress (missed her name) was so attentive and friendly! Love the Cajun flavors and the different dishes Don serves. Awesome night out, thank you HS!!!

We went back after a few years. Now a byob which we like. The food remains the same. Excellent!

It’s great that the locals seem to be enjoying this restaurant but this is a very poor representation of New Orleans and Cajun Food. The owner is not from New Orleans and has no sense of Cajun food.I ordered the crawfish popcorn, it had a sweet sauce covered on top that was not good. I also ordered the Cajun chicken and shrimp Alfredo, the sauce was watery not a good heavy cream base and the chicken was beaten to paper thin. The Cajun seasoning was so loaded on the chicken there was more seasoning than chicken. The Jambalaya is far from authentic. The owner did not seem to want to hear my comments, instead when he came to the table he was immediately telling me how good the food was. I spent a lot of money for mediocre food.I don’t think I will return.

YOU MUST TRY THIS! The food is authentic and the portions are very generous. The atmosphere and soundtrack are excellent. We have been to New Orleans many times and this is as good, if not BETTER!

This was a tough one because, after the amazing food and simply outstanding service by Julia our waitress, I had to reserve a star for two reasons; The cocky non-grateful attitude of the owner when I attempted to compliment him on his restaurant and the prices of the dishes. I really don't care though how closely authentic the food was. It was good enough for me as a northerner trying out something new and the flavors of the plates were positively sensational. Anyone giving a negative review on here for flavorless food must be a smoker or had a cold when they came because there is no doubt of the richness and combination of flavors of each of our four meals that will cause us to return again. I just hope that when we do I'll have a better interaction with the owner who shows that he appreciates his customers.

Always the yummiest spicy shrimp vindaloo and delicious crawfish etouffee! Also pierogies and artichokes are sublime -

Only one meal here in the last decade. It was convent so we stopped in. Friendly service and good food. If you like Cajun, this is likely your best choice in west chester area.

We went here for the first time tonight and all of the food was exceptional! We were able to call an hour in advance and reserve our table for 6:30pm, which was great! When we got there the restaurant was not very busy, but got more crowded the later in the night it got. This is a BYOB restaurant so they only offer sodas and seltzer water. The waitresses and hostess were very nice and the food came out very quickly! We started with the popcorn crawfish which was amazing! For entrees, we had the jerk chicken tacos and blackened chicken with scallops and shrimp. Both dishes were bursting with flavor and really great! We will definitely be back if we pass through West Chester again!

What an amazing establishment! The food is absolutely amazing, the service is amazing. If you are having trouble looking for somewhere for that first-date and you both enjoy Cajun food, I would highly recommend High Street Cafe.

The Cajun style food was really delicious. My fiancé tried alligator for the first time! We both lead a low carb lifestyle and they were accommodating to our food requirements and adjusted our meals so that they were tasty and filling and we didn't miss a thing! Our server went out of her way to make us feel special and had many suggestions as to what we could substitute for our carbs. The decor is all about Mardi Gras. The lighting was at just the right level to make it feel more intimate. I would be interested in going back when the weather is warmer and eating outside.

The Cajun food at this restaurant is a disgrace. I grew up in Louisiana not far from New Orleans and was raised on Cajun food. My mother was a wonderful cook and her jambalaya was amazing. Once awhile and special occasions we would go to New Orleans to eat and have a good family time . I learned my mother's Cajun recipes and now I cook the way my mother would cook for us. About 8 years ago I moved from Louisiana to the West Chester area for work and decided to check out the local Cajun restaurants in the region . Cajun restaurants between West Chester, Philadelphia and Delaware. None of the Cajun restaurants are spot on with the flavor of true authentic Cajun food. Some of the Cajun restaurants we visited was better than others when it came to the food. Most had great decor/ambiance which reminded me of home and some had terrible decor/ambiance. The worst so called Cajun restaurant we visited was high street caffe in West Chester. One night we decided to go to high street cafe for dinner because I didn't feel like cooking that night and it was a disappointment. By far the food at high street cafe is a disgrace. Ordered their Chicken Jambalaya, Crawfish Popcorn and Lobster Ravioli With Scallops. First in line Jambalaya; hardly any chicken, rice wasn't cooked fresh must have been zapped to get warm (barely) flavor was fair. Crawfish Popcorn; was fried beforehand, microwaved before it was served, externally dry and tasteless. Now the kicker, Lobster Ravioli With Scallops: Ravioli hardly any lobster inside more pasta than lobster, size not very big (4 of them). They looked really odd had a red line in the middle to remind you it had lobster inside (should have known something was wrong by that). Had a flour taste even with their sauce. Lobster ravioli at this place is not worth the 32 dollars they charge. Better off going to the grocery store and buying all the ingredients myself and cooking it myself. It would tasted better and cost a lot less. Now for the ambiance of high street cafe in west Chester. First thing I noticed walking into this restaurant is that the tables are close together. It had a cramped feel to it and it was not busy when we visited but it still felt like a tight space. There is also no place to sit while waiting for a table. So I guess if and when they are packed people you will have to wait and stand outside until a table is available. The decor could use a change and cleaning. I didn't get the New Orleans/ Cajun vide walking in here like I got a some of the other Cajun restaurants in the region . Walking into high street caffe felt like a walking a funeral parlor just a dead out dated vibe. It's like a funeral parlor mixed with antique shop . A unused bar filled with dusty junk . The vents above the tables had dust on them. The junk on the wall had dust on them. They can't clean the dining area I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. Some of the other reviews complain about the quality of the food that was served to them . Freezer burn, rubbery. Lazy cooks and owners and staff. The food is not cooked to order it's premade and reheated in microwave. All this adds up to lazy owners, staff and cooks. If you are any nationality other than Caucasian don't bother coming here b/c this establishment make it very clear that they don't want you to eat here. They also charge 10 dollars a bottle corkage fee which is not listed anywhere. The owner Donny has known to be racist and rude to the customers that eat there. If you complain about the food Donny will just yell in your face call you names and tell you how stupid and wrong you are and tell you that you should thank him. Donny you should thank your customers and kiss their butts for eating in your pathetic restaurant. Without customers you would not have your tiny restaurant or your house on the hill or your two Mercedes cars that you have. Donny the racist owner with his massive ego is nothing more than a washed up ex wannabe rock n roller with a rock career that failed. Time to boycott this restaurant

I truly recommend this restaurant. This is the type of restaurant that gets ignored but should NOT because it was very good and affordable. It was very nice and comfortable inside as well. They are known to have exotic meals. Currently they are serving only alligator and it was surprisingly good. It really did taste like chicken! And how it was made was perfect for someone trying it for the first time.
