We went to slow hand on a very busy night when the bar and kitchen were backed up. Our server, Alex, (who is normally a bartender) was absolutely amazing. He was so personable, checked in on us often, and did anything he could do to help serve us more quickly. We ordered desserts to go, and we left a bit early since one of the desserts was taking a while. Alex chased us down to give us a gift card for the inconvenience. He is awesome and made what could have been a bad night a great one. We will definitely be back ?

Good upscale tavern food. The drinks were great. The table in the bar area was strange. It felt like we were at the same table as the strangers next to us, and we had to hear their conversation, too. All-in-all, it was a decent experience, but I don't feel inclined to return.

Made a reservation for 8:00PM on a Saturday one week in advance. When we arrived, the hostess informed us that the previous party at our table wasn’t leaving. We proceeded to wait 45 minutes before we were seated. Why bother taking reservations if you won’t ask the last patrons to leave the table after they’re done? Moreover, they hired a band that plays entirely too loud for the restaurant. We were sitting in the middle/back of the restaurant and couldn’t have conversation at our table because it was so loud. At least the food was pretty good.

? This is an ideal choice if you like live music, southern food, country music, and hand=crafted cocktails. ( If you are very health-conscious, like places that are quiet then this is not the place to go though...)? We got the ham and cheese crudites, stuffed scottish salmon, fried chicken and mac and cheese "slice of cake" with bacon jam. We were going here and expected to "like" the food... but it was really outstanding... chicken nice and juicy with a perfectly crispy skin and came with pureed parsnips (never had that before... so much yumminess).... the lentils and mushrooms under my salmon were of-so-delicious... I had an expertly crafted cocktail too - very pink and fruity - perfect girly drink. I loved how whimsical the mac and cheese slice was... never seen this before either. Service was great.

Had a reservation for a large party made over a month in advance. Confirmed the day before. When I arrived was told “sorry” it’s first come first serve even though they had the reservation in their system. Eventually they tried to seat us but was over an hour after our reservation and around the time the band was starting so we went elsewhere. I’d stop in for a drink but wouldn’t plan on eating here again.

What a disappointment and unacceptable experience. I can only review the service. A group of 9 of us go out once a year for the holidays to enjoy dinner together. We made a reservation a month ago and confirmed the reservation the day before. They did not have a table for us. Told us they were not going to be able to seat us and they were sorry. Unacceptable. After much complaining they offered us a free round of drinks. While that gesture is appreciated, we wanted dinner.Thanks to Bar Avalon for fitting all 9 of us in at 8pm on a Friday night for an amazing meal.
