Dunderbak’s Market Café is easily the best restaurant in the Lehigh Valley Mall. The food tastes fresh and authentic, and the servers are genuinely attentive, going out of their way to make us feel at home. You can truly tell there’s love in both the food and the people who work there. They went above and beyond to help us navigate the menu for gluten-free options, which was such a stress reliever. My wife had the goulash and I had the Munich Wurst & Pasta, both were absolutely delicious.

Totally the best restaurant / beer place in a Mall that I’ve ever been too. 12 beers on tap - 4 German 4 Belgian and 4 American. I had some delicious Hungarian Mushroom Soup - and my friend had a good Bratwurst. The waitresses know their beer and are a riot! Eat drink and be merry.
Better get there soon - the owner is retiring - last day Feb 28 2026!!

Tried going here today, 6/1/25. Their website says they open at 11am on Sunday. DO NOT USE THIS INFORMATION FROM THEIR WEBSITE. The mall opens at 12 noon…. Therefore the restaurant opens at noon. Dunderbak’s please correct your website.

First time eating here with the fam and the food was pretty good. Staff were amazing and so so sweet. The decor makes you feel like you’re in Europe.

Took sauerbraten off the menu-schnitzel is flavorless-sausages are boring-after 30+ years can't imagine going there again

Update: response to managers reply. While, I commend you for responding, but your response and information are inaccurate.
The restaurant was dead with only four tables being served inside, and maybe five people at the bar. So, it was not a full restaurant. While it may have been busier earlier, I don't know. But, I would think your staff would be able to handle the few customers there. As far as the mold on the ceiling tile, it was absolutely mold, green, black, and gray. I know what a water stain looks like. When I mentioned it to your employee in the bathroom her response was, owners are in their 90’s and they don’t come to the restaurant. The staff is doing all they can without the owners investing in repairs. We’ve been customers for over 30+ years, this was very disappointing to see such a decline in service, food, and atmosphere.

I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but last night was horrible from the service to the food and then the severely moldy bathroom. When ordering our food as we were sitting down the server suddenly asked if it was a to-go order. My husband and I just looked at her very confused and said no. The food is not what it once was. We were served barely cooked kielbasa on a hot dog roll, potato pancakes soaked with grease, and burnt (black) pretzel bites. When I asked the server if the pretzel bites looked burnt she replied yes, sorry about that. We did have them removed from the bill. Then I tried to use the sweet mustard the bottle was caked with so much dry hard mustard when I finally got it open and wiped away the crust the mustard popped out of the bottle. I grabbed a mustard from Another table it was gross as well but not as bad. When I used the bathroom the mold on the ceiling tiles was disgusting not to mention the old toilets. At one time we looked forward to dining here unless the owner invests time and improvements, we won’t be back.

I'm sorry. I really wanted to love this place. Esp bc they have the elusive sauerbraten.
It was good enough but could use abt 2 more days marinating. My next favorite..potroast, taste was good but the meat and mashed potatoes came floating in a broth-like liquid. FLOATING. it was so confusing as it said gravy..not soup. I was thinking is this a joke, am I on candid camera? The mashed potatoes melted into the soup quick and disappeared. I ate a third and the rest went to the foxes. Come on dunderbak's if you can't make good pot roast gravy you can't even compete with a diner! Where's that German pride??

The food is great, the selection is wonderful, the service is sub par. I have visited 2x and both times have been sat at a booth which is fine. The issues become apparent when the food order is placed. Both times, waittress staff forgot parts of the order, or just took far too long to get the food to us. I'm not sure if that is something that happens consistently overall here or if it was just something I experienced. However after all this, the food was delicious and I would still return. The staff who get you seated are always a pleasure to deal with. It's just the waitress staff. The first waitress acknowledged the issue and even gave us something for free, the second one basically just forgot us in general.
