I love when I have the excuse to go to John Wright! My favorite time to go is brunch, with cheap mimosas and a delicious buffet with prime rib, you can't go wrong. A group of us took a girls' trip recently and we did dinner outside, and the views are stunning. They make all of their pasta in house, and it's delicious!

We just ordered 2 pizzas. Was average. The twist they do on some of the pizzas are not to our liking. Pizza looked sloppy. Toppings just thrown on top of it. Dough was ok. Expensive! We ate outside. Which was very lovely.

We had such a wonderful brunch experience at John Wright Restaurant! Our server, Jen, was top notch—so pleasant and attentive without ever being overbearing. The custom omelettes were absolutely delicious, and the best part was not having to wait in line for them. The buffet had so many tempting options, with a perfect mix of breakfast and lunch. Some of our favorites were the eggs Benedict, prime rib, waffles with chocolate chips, crispy bacon, shrimp Alfredo, and Caesar salad. Sitting out on the patio with the peaceful river view was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend!

Too notch staff. Great unique choices for food selections. Many healthy options. The views are beautiful right by the Susquehanna River. You may enjoy relaxing on their benches outside or bring your own chairs to enjoy the views after your dining experience

1st time trying the John Wright restaurant. Chose the outdoor seating area with Saturday early evening reservations made prior. Not the pizza grille side. Menu selections looked appealing. Service was extremely slow. Food was eh. Was not hot when delivered to the table. Ordered the crab stuffed mahi mahi & it was very dry. The accompanying rice pilaf was dry & bland. Other entree ordered was a steak which was also very dry & not great flavor. The fresh green beans were the best part of the meals. Appetizer ordered was the crab chips - they were so insanely salty we couldn’t finish them. Crab dip on the chips was decent but the old bay chips were way too salty to enjoy. Beer was good. The atmosphere is beautiful. We won’t be back nor will we recommend the restaurant.

Sunday Brunch $28.95 was a huge rip off.
We went in around 1:45pm.
The green beans were dried out. The sausage gravy mixed with the bread was dried out and pasty along with other items in the steamers. Also, in some of the steamers only a couple of spoonfuls were left on the bottom stuck to the steamers and the bacon was limp. The Stromboli was good but only had a few slivers sliced left.
The roast beef was flavorless.
I asked for water and it was served in a clear plastic cup Insteads of a glass. For $28.95 I do expect a glass. The waitress asked how everything was. I explained to her my disappointment and that today was my birthday and my husband brought me here for a special outing. We both had very little to eat. So disappointing that our bill wasn't adjusted to at least least half.

We went for a brunch. The food which is contained in warmers atop hot burners was not even warm. This is something that is important to me. The choices of food were very different in that maybe that’s the kind of food they serve off the normal menu. They were not for us. They did have breakfast items. The pancakes were hard and brunt. This just wasn’t for us. I would like to go back and order off the menu. Well, I would have to look at the menu prior to going. The view is beautiful though!

Conflicted with this review because on one hand the location and atmosphere are bar none for the area. I had the opportunity to sit on the patio on a beautiful evening and enjoy the views and breeze.
On the other hand the food is over priced and lacking in quality. We tried crab dip that was basically a pile of chips with cheese and crab on top that they threw under a broiler so the cheese was glued to the paper and the chips were burnt. Just weird. My chicken parm was burnt and had a very weird seasoning or spice that I couldn’t place. Dessert (some chocolate Pokémon looking ball) just didn’t taste good.
Super disappointing. I would come back again but maybe just for drinks! Or to try their bar/patio menu.

Always have a great experience here. Very well prepared meals and attention to allergies. Several gluten free options which is something i always require. Also took my mother here for the prime rib brunch one time and had a short pleasant conversation with the chef who was working a table with the rest of the staff. really adds to the trust of someone preparing your food.

Located along the Susquehanna River in York, PA, John Wright Restaurant offers a beautiful blend of natural scenery and unique architecture. As a Central PA and East Coast wedding photographer who specializes in light and airy, timeless imagery, I have been here twice now and love how this venue combines refined charm with relaxed elegance.
The ceremony space, set against views of the river and bridges, is peaceful and romantic, the kind of backdrop that elevates every image. The venue’s brick exterior and inside the upstairs reception space offer character and warmth, while the large porch invites guests to mingle and soak in the view.
Sunset here is especially magical. As the sun sets behind the building, the lawn glows with soft, golden light creating a perfect, graceful setting for portraits! John Wright is a wonderful choice for couples looking for a venue that feels both unique and heartfelt. I would be thrilled to take many more wedding photos here!
