This is an eatery right around the corner from the office and the train station. The food is extremely fresh and the service is on point and on time.

Sumatra is a community gem! My husband and I come here at least once a week for coffee and lunch. The people who run this shop are incredibly kind. They always greet us by name and make us feel like we are in the company of friends. They know our order and have it in the queue as soon as they see us in line. Their food is delicious. The menu is frequently updated and there are plenty of vegan options! In addition to the coffee offerings, they have an Indonesian ginger latte that is so good. And…they have a good selection of board games for the whole family to play. I highly suggest you skip Dunkin and Starbucks and support this local business. I know I will continue to!

My husband and I go to Sumatra cafe for breakfast once a week. Their breakfast wraps are insanely good - by far the best I’ve ever had! I also love their specialty lattes. The matcha is excellent. Everyone who works there is so friendly and kind. Highly recommend checking this place out!

I have been coming here regularly since its opening. There has always been a continuity of staffing, even after the original owners passed the baton to one of their own staffers, who now runs the place with essentially the same crew. Everyone is friendly, efficient, and hard working. Everyone works as a team. The menu has evolved somewhat over time, and they occasionally sneak in an Indonesian dish or treat, or soup in the winter. I love the breakfast sandwiches, croissants, and coffee drinks, but the lunch sandwiches and paninis are great , too. They make some of their own pastry and get others from Le Bus. Prices are reasonable and portions are always large. You can always expect a smile and you often hear laughter from behind the counter. Free WiFi and plenty of space to hang out and work or play (there are games, too!). Parking in the rear and also street parking on Greenwood Ave. Lots of regulars. If you live in the the Jenkintown-Glenside-Elkins Park area, you won't find a better breakfast/lunch cafe, for eat-in or takeout.

Sumatra is my favorite place for a bacon egg and cheese (my favorite is the egg Sammie) or to grab a coffee and work on my laptop. The staff has always been so lovely, even waiting until I come in to pick up my order to make the coffee so that it stayed hot! I can’t recommend this place enough.

Top-notch fresh food served efficiently with a smile. Cozy community atmosphere with available board games and plenty of tables for folks to hang out. Can't say enough good stuff about this place.

Went here for a 20oz black coffee. They handed to me and it felt light weight and that type of stuff immediately irks me. I open the lid and it was not full to the top. If I pay 20oz I want at least 19oz. Not 17. $3 a cup pshhhhhh.

I got The Luxe Bagel with the Peppermint Bark Latte and it was absolutely delicious! The Luxe Bagel has to be one of my favorite lox bagels and the latte got me into the holiday spirit. I always appreciate how they greet you as soon as you walk through the door and their contagious joyful energy. You never disappoint Sumatra, thank you so much!
