Gone way down hill. Awful customer service. Perhaps getting employees who aren't ready to kill themselves to work the front would encourage more patronage. At least the fried clams were the same. Actually incredibly shameful to have those people taking orders. Reconsider their employment .
I know things have gone up in price but over $33 plus tip is ridiculous for three small fries and gravy plus a kids meal. The waitress was surly too. Scowled when we pulled in. No personality at all. Felt like it was a huge bother to get our order. After coming here for decades I'm finally done.

I was surprised when I walked in to see a beautiful diner. I ordered and shortly after my cheeseburger, fries with gravy and a little coleslaw arrived. It was really good, I could taste the cheeseburger, all the toppings, the fries were crisp and a couple of bites of coleslaw.... 5 out of 5 for a great basic cheeseburger combo that tasted so good.

Never consistent. Often the fries are cold and overcooked and hard. Gravy is usually tasteless. When it does have a taste, it's sour. Lids do NOT fit their gravy dish so a massive burning hazard. Asked for a cup of water and it tasted like literal feces. Smelled it and it's just as bad. They ARE working on water and sewer lines so perhaps this is why, but that makes me think people will be sick from contaminated water which they use to make gravy etc. The owner is rude. The other girls are great. Too bad it went so far down hill. One day a few years ago, my son asked for an ice cream cone. It came in a dish. When i asked for it to be fixed the waitress was so sweet but the owner saw i was complaining and came and took over. She was beyond rude and even a bit hostile. She said she can stick a cone on top. I said no, he's 8 and wants it IN the cone. She walked away disgusted and slammed it into the trash and sent another girl out with it made right. I had to apologize to her because i felt like i got her in trouble. Had major issues a few years back, so bad that no one would believe me if I told it. The owner has got to go. There's a reason there's hardly any cars there ever, and several facebook pages complaining about the business. Maybe take a clue. You cant cook, have no manners, and shouldn't run a business. In all the years i have been going to Gillis' Drive In, (since 1980's) never have i had this kind of nasty food or rotten attitude and service. **please note it is directed at the owner only**. Also not once did i ever receive an apology for the food made badly or anything else. I won't go again. I gave it my last shot this year and regretted it immediately. I don’t complain anywhere else. There's no need because it's always a one off and the service is always so lovely, including owners. They will get my hard earned money from now on.

Hands down the best crunchy chicken burger I’ve had in a long time! The food was fantastic and the service even better! I recommend this place to anyone driving through Montague!

Went here last year with my grandfather. I had the chicken strips he had the clam strips. Not many clamstrips or fries and looked to be a small drink they claimed was a medium. That way 20 dollars. I had the chicken strips. Tasted like your generic fried chicken strip. Not many fries. And small pop they claimed was a medium. All in all spent 40 dollars for 2 people. I rember going here years ago and good food and service. But heres another example of cuttibg costs and quality. I wont be going back

Awesome old classic drive-in diner with legit car service avaliable. This place should be surrounded by classic cars and customs on friday and saturday nights. Just a good ole fashioned vruise in. Would do wonders for this place!! Bring it back to life!!!
