First time trying Spicy Chef in Stratford this evening for takeout . The menu is huge and that should have been my first warning that it would be sub par. For an appetizer we order veg samosas. The filling was good but the dough was super thick and under cooked . We got butter chicken poutine, chicken tandoori with fries, chicken tikia with fries, and chicken pad Thai. All the fries were hard and dried out, even on the poutine. As my 14 yr old daughter stated “ how do you screw up fries?” And she works at a fast food restaurant. We actually couldn’t eat the fries. The chicken pad Thai was ok but was more of a western style. No peanuts, green onions or limes. It was more like a stir fry with green peppers, carrots etc. The chicken tandoori and tiki were good, and truly the only thing that got this restaurant 2 stars. I feel this restaurant needs to pare down their menu and serve what they do well. But due to this experience we will not be back again.
Having eaten and loving the spicy chef in Charlottetown. This was a real let down. The chicken chow mein was disgustingly salty. The chicken 65 was burnt to a crisp. Will not be going to this location again

Hard to say I had a good experience when they were closed during their posted operation hours. Open at 11 supposedly, door locked and lights out at 11:15.
Menu falsely says gluten free items. (Ex. Chilli chicken was falsely labelled GF)
We felt super excited when we saw the gluten free marked item.
Chilli chicken has soy sauce, and soy sauce usually has gluten.
After asking the server (who was honest enough to ask the chef) if the soy sauce was gf, the server went to the kitchen and asked if the soy sauce was gluten free and the chef said no.
Not safe at all, especially for those who are highly sensitive like celiac disease.

Not recommended at all.
We traveled all the way from Nova Scotia and found this restaurant ranked #1 on Google—unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.
We ordered Dal Makhani, Masala Champ, Shahi Paneer, and a Bread Basket. I’ve attached pictures so you can see for yourself: the bread looked like it was prepared a week ago, then just reheated and served. It tasted just as stale as it looked.
The Dal Makhani was undercooked, with a strange, off-putting color I’ve never seen in this dish before. The Masala Champ tasted oddly sweet, which completely missed the mark—this dish is never supposed to be sweet. As for the Shahi Paneer, we had to search for any actual paneer pieces in it.
Very disappointing overall. Definitely not worth the hype, and we won’t be coming back. Not recommended.

I ordered butter naans for takeout. All of them were burned and so stiff, hard and non edible state with No content of butter on it. Even if one of the naan’s is in a good state,I never make an effort to write a negative review here.
Too salty which I am not interested to complain about
But atleast you can provide something edible

Best advice: Simply AVOID.
We ordered Chicken briyani, Lamb Briyani, Chilli chicken dry, Chilli chicken gravy, Chicken 65, Fish Pakora, Mix Non Veg platter, Naan and two different noodles
Not even a single dish is good. All of the dishes are awful. Noodles are too salty. Naan is burned. Fish Pakora is very blend. Never try Mix Non Veg Platter, it doesn't have any taste. I never saw and the chicken 65 like that in my entire life.
Biriyanis are somewhat okay, if you are hungry then you can finish it.
Staff is welcoming and friendly.

I ordered off door dash only to be disappointed by the quality of my order. My order was butter chicken with white rice on the side, and also included two orders of garlic nan bread. when getting my order from door dash, the food came with no napkins let alone utensils, and flimsy containers that weren't suited for the butter chicken. When actually getting to the food i was disappointed with the butter chicken as it was very watery, and even more disappointed with the garlic nan bread as it was burnt and no longer soft making it feel old and stale, clearly reheated. all of this was a big disappointment because the location in town has so much better quality of food. with the same delivery service
