After trying the Kettle Black downtown and not liking it very much I was hesitant to try here. Somehow, the Stratford location is worse than downtown. It’s cute on the interior but the coffee and food is awful. We waited over 15 minutes for a drip coffee, a cappuccino, a breakfast bagel and a soup. The coffee was like water, it was maybe the single worst coffee I’ve ever tried on Island or off. The soup was filled 3/4 of the way. It was “lentil” but had no solids in it, just broth. The bagel was a microwaved monstrosity that tastes like….also nothing. It was $25 for the lot, which would have been reasonable price if the food and drink were edible.
I wouldn’t bother with either location. Plenty of bespoke and fast food options that are superior.
Update: I also got food poisoning. I’m guessing from the microwaved egg and bacon bagel.

Please don't confuse the downtown location with the Stratford location. I have only had positive experiences at the downtown location. New Stratford location was nothing short of a comedy of negative surprises. Of the approximately 8 or 9 items on the menu, only 3 were actually available! Add to this, the so-called avocado toast was actually a set of warmed up, barely toasted slices of bread . Extremely strong garlic avocado mixes in small canisters. In short, disgusting. I NEVER complain about food. This is a first for me. I wish the business only good luck... To do this they have some work to do!!

The Lucky Bean used to be my favourite lunch spot but now it has gone downhill since changing owners. I went to the Kettle Black the first week it opened and was disappointed when I saw they decreased the food menu so much. We still ate there but everything was burnt and the service was slow. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I returned today to find it has somehow gotten worse. All our food was burnt and gross. Decent coffee though
