Expectations were high. In Abrantes this restaurant is a reference and that's why we really wanted to try it. I made a reservation through thefork, the day we went it was so quiet that it wasn't necessary.
Couvert on the table, to whet your appetite. Seasoned lupins, butter with aromatic herbs, liver pâté and two types of bread. The pâté was our favorite, for those who don't like intense flavors, it won't be ideal. They advised us to order starters to share and a main course. There wasn't, we went for the second option, Rio Fish Ceviche and Beef Tartar. The first had a very interesting balance, acidic at first and sweet at the end, the red onion, despite being shy, helped a lot in this combination. The fish was very fresh and had a very tender consistency. I didn't like the tartare as much, the sauce was sweet and the pieces of meat were a little bigger than I was expecting.
As for the Pork Shank confit for 24 hours, the meat was incredible! Very juicy, it fell off the bone and we didn't even need a knife to break the meat. The only drawback was the meat sauce, again too sweet for our palate... I was sad, I confess, because it was exactly the dish I wanted to try. As for the creamy rice, it wouldn't be my option because it needed more texture to accompany the meat but that's it... It was an interesting experience, I believe that in a sharing concept it is a good option, being able to try several dishes on the menu.
