The ambience itself is very nice, but what you get to drink as a cocktail is unbearable. The heel of a puddle tastes better than what we were served. The cocktails were bland and tasted totally watered down and had nothing to do with the actual target taste. Just yuck. You were also asked to pay €10 for the manure. During happy hour in the hotel there are selected cocktails for around €5, which are SIGNIFICANTLY better and you can have them every day. After the drink there was already bad, we didn't dare eat there anymore, but it was at least overpriced. Standard Cornetto ice cream also costs €3.60. A few meters further you can get the same thing for €1.80 Within a radius of 500m there are super nice and recommended restaurants that offer good drinks and food at a fair price. There is therefore definitely no recommendation for Il Basilico. Nice atmosphere with bad food and drink.

I had high expectations due to some youtubers and the Instagram account of the restaurant itself. Pasta was good but I had better pizza in town for less than 10euro. I’d recommend this restaurant if you’re nearby and wanna try a good italian restaurant. If you want real authentic italian food this is not it.
The view is exceptional but they didn’t allow is to eat on the terrace unfortunately. Service was ok, I mean its Europe, dont expect customers service like in America.
The restaurant is located IN THE HOTEL. Most customers are clients from the hotel.

As Vegetarians, 'Il Basilico' offers more on the menu that we can actually eat ! Italian themed restaurant, so most people should be able to find something on the menu !
We ate here in the evening and loved it! The starters, beef carpaccio or squid carpaccio and squid rings were excellent. The main courses, seafood tagliatelle negro and cod on potato cream with pesto, were also delicious. The service was very friendly and accommodating and professional. The ambience is unbeatable and very private. Pre-ordering is therefore essential if you want to eat outside on the cliff!

The food was very good except that the Calamari was too chewy and my wife couldn’t eat it. My Veal dish was excellent. The waitress asked my wife if there was something wrong with her meal as the Calamari hadn’t been eaten and she gave an honest appraisal also pointing out that the Prawn element of the dish was excellent. The waitress brought the Manager over and she was VERY apologetic, offering another dish but my wife declined and assured her that she had still enjoyed the evening. When our bill came the Calamari dish was not charged for. We were both very impressed with the attitude. Sometimes you have to accept that things can go wrong and it is how you deal with problems that really matters. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant again.

We had a lovely dinner on the terrace overlooking the sea. The meal was beautifully cooked and well presented. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. Live music made the evening complete.

The place is very nice within the hotel facilities, with a very pleasant atmosphere and very tasty food. We tried the risotto, the mushroom and dried tomato bruschetta with parmesan, the veal fillet al funghi porcini and the mushroom risotto with chestnuts, smoked duck with red wine reduction. We liked everything very much. The staff very friendly and attentive. I have gluten intolerance and they gave me all the possible options and were concerned at all times that there would be no problem with what I was going to take.

The restaurant il basilco algarve is beautifully situated in the 4☆ hotel portobay falesia, but unfortunately cannot offer what I expect from a 4 star hotel. Large terrace area is offered, some with a great view of the Atlantic. The waitresses do their job, nothing more. No friendly hello, no how did it taste and no goodbye when you leave. The food and drinks were served quickly, my ceasar salad took less than 1 minute, i.e. the salad was already prepared. You could tell by the taste, the chicken was cold, the salad dressing tasted bland and the fried, heavily seasoned diced ham didn't fit into the salad. The chairs in the restaurant are absolutely uncomfortable for eating, you sit far too low here, and the tables are too high for it. The selection on the menu is huge, but this is of little use if the quality is not so good and the prices are relatively high.Conclusion = average restaurant
