This is a superb value little cafe, ideal for a quick lunch. We had visited on previous trips to Funchal and were delighted to find it unchanged. The Prego pork sandwich is amazing value, under 6 euro, very tasty, well presented and good service.
We first visited this gorgeous snack bar on our first visit to Madeira in 2019 and it was high on our list to return to when we returned this year. The food is freshly prepared and absolutely delicious and is great value for money. We are always made special welcome… it’s very simply a very nice place to go to and we wholeheartedly recommend it
Enjoyed another brilliant lunch at the Black Pearl. Friendly service, excellent food. We will be back very soon
This restaurant was very close to our hotel, and the waiter spoke excellent English. We shared a chicken prego (similar to a chicken club) and it was very filling. We would definitely eat here again. We walked by later and noticed that they were closed in the evening.
Brilliant, delicious food, reasonably priced with fast service. Club sandwich was excellent. Really enjoyed our lunch here, a great find!
(Translated by Google) As for the timing, it's not like that. At 9:30 am the employees arrived to take their breakfast. At 9:50 am we were served.(Original)Quanto ao horário não é bem assim. Às 9h30 chegaram as funcionárias para irem tomar o seu pequeno almoço. Às 9h50 é que fomos atendidos.
Smashing little cafe in great central location and relatively near to the seafront. My wife and I popped in for refreshments when making our way back to the cruise terminal after a long walk and really appreciated the stop off.

Parking: Close parking almost garanteed a spot apart from wednesday mornings when the local market takes place
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible, room is made on the spot for comfort and flexibility bathrooms also have disabled stalls
Dietary restrictions: Any requests made are taken seriously and very rarely not accomodated
We just walked all the way from the Tobogan ride, 40 minutes down a very steep slope. With our leg muscles and knees hurting, it was time for a mid afternoon snack. The Prego was very nice (a alho) and the chips were crispy and fresh. We noticed that the majority of people coming in were locals, which probably tells you that this is one of those rare jewels in Funchal where you can eat nice food for half of what you would pay 200 yards down the road by the seaside.

I’ve visited about six times and have never been disappointed! The burgers are great with bacon and an egg on a local bun. Plenty of chips in oregano.
