I would NOT recommend eating at this restaurant. My fish was frozen and swimming in cheap olive oil. The wine was subpar. The prices on the menu was higher than what was shown to us outside the restaurant. And they they charged us each an ‘entrance’ fee for sitting inside. What a scam! We’ve had some wonderful meals in Lisboa but this restaurant was terrible.
DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT. It is a scam. They entice you while walking in the street; however, the menu inside the restaurant does not have the same prices as the one you saw outside. They will tell you it is a celebration night and you get free port. Miguel/Casanova read us our bill at the end of the meal and we trusted him and did not review it. My neice, who was paying the bill, later found out there was a 13 euro charge for “entrance” according to Portuguese translation. Water was 2.50 euro each bottle! Food tasted frozen and cod was chewy and dishes not served hot. The man outside said it is a family business. Do not trust anything they say. The staff will act friendly and then trick you when it comes to the menu and the bill. Go elsewhere. There are plenty of better restaurants with authentic and fresh meals at reasonable prices. It is a shame this restaurant is still in business. They give Lisbon a bad reputation and should be banned. Don’t believe any good reviews; there is nothing good about this place or this experience.
Miguel was fantastic, great food and experience with the service, recommendation, we will come again to enjoy the Lynch or dinner here.
Busy hustling street with so many eateries trying to entice you. This one hooked us in and the food was nice to be fair. Perhaps a little expensive for what it is, paying for bread etc is a bit much but it is the norm. All in all, ok average meal.
The food was delicious and the waiters were super friendly! My go to restaurant each time I’m in town
We arrived late in Lisbon and stumbled into this great restaurant in central Lisbon. The restaurant is located next to the Santa Justa Hotel in central Lisbon. We order a portion of grill wild turbot which was delicious and enough for two of us. The meal was so nice, we returned every day to this restaurant during our stay to try other fish dishes. We have tried grilled whole wild seabass and whole wild seabeam. Those were also gorgeous. The restaurant is own by the same family since 1967. We were served by Paolo who spoke perfect English and very friendly. His father owns the restaurant and his mother is the head chef in the kitchen. They place bread on every table but you can ask for it to be removed if you don’t want it and will not be charged. They add 10% service charge to the bill and this common in central Lisbon. The price for the food in this restaurant is very reasonable. We noticed a lot of local people eat in this restaurant not just tourists. I highly recommend the grilled wild fish dishes, they are beautifully cooked and fresh. The restaurant also serves suckling pig from Mealhada every Friday, which is also very delicious. The restaurant close on Saturday but open every day until 10:00pm. We will definitely return to this restaurant when we next visit Lisbon.
I just appreciated this application more and more. Exactly as stated the food is good, but keep an open eye for little check tricks. We ordered a fish plate for 2 upon waiters advise stating only those are fresh fish and the rest are frozen. Indeed cant remember the exact name of the fish but was lucky enough to ask for the price priorly and checking the photo in the menu properly. Asking the price did not went through well in the beginning as he showed us a full page of several fish just said here you go these are proces. Seing them all more or less the same we went through woth the order. Anyhow after reading a few reviews here, we cross checked the photo from the menu comparing with what we got. Lucky that we did as the bill ended up 30eur more then what we asked for. After explainining which fish we ordered by requesting the menu , they agreed to change the bill, apoligizing multiple times. We got saved at some point but you should be VERY careful before paying the bill in this restaurant. Good luck.
It was a cold November night and we visited this restaurant initially for just a beer and wine but ended up staying for food as the staff/team were so friendly. Paul looked after us and we had the most delicious sardines The menu was full of fish dishes along with meat The atmosphere was great, will definitely return
Coffee and grocery store side by side. Sympathy, pity the cafe is right on the side of the road, without much outside space.
Very friendly staff, welcomed us like family. My Neices had previously enjoyed and suggested we go back. For traditional Portuguese food you absolutely can’t go wrong. I had the baby clams, so good and my neice had caldo verde, also very good. For dinner my aunt had bitoque (steak with fried egg) husband had picanha, one neice had sardines, the other fish filets and I had the bream, all with an abundance of sides and there was no issue sub fries for more rice and salad.

excellent service
We sat indoors as outdoors was too hot. We ordered 4 dishes and the wait was around 25 mins but the food was superb so it was worth the wait. Would recommend for authentic Portuguese food
It: Penso che sia il miglior pesce che puoi trovare in tutta lisbona. Non te lo puoi perdere. Consigliatissimo! En: I believe you'll have the best plate of fish in the whole of Lisbon, can't miss this one out!
I ate here against my better judgment. I had just arrived in Lisbon and feeling very jetlagged I was wanting something basic. Unfortunately I was accosted by a very aggressive Hawker who ushered me to his table. Fortunately I knew enough to refuse the bread and alcohol sticking with just still water and ordering the cod with fried potatoes, A dish that I repeated a few more times on my two week trip to Portugal.. Their version was passable. Easily my least memorable meal of the trip but not terrible. Only go if you’re jetlagged, tired, and just don’t know any better.
We came across this gem and had to repeat our visit! Best Cataplana in town and mixed seafood platter! Miguel our server was amazing!! Don’t leave Lisbon without a visit!
