This was a partial stop of a local wine tour. This place was unfortunately a disappointment. Our stop included a tasting glas of a local strong and sweet moscato which was lovely.
After that we continued to a lunch with wine pairing. It was really hot inside (30C+, this on a shady day) and the food quality was of school canteen standard at best. What should be mentioned though was that the peired wine was unlimited and of ok quality.
The overall feeling was really touristic and not as authentic as the pther stops on our tour.

A cheese & bread starter was followed by seafood empadas, carrot soup and a meat stew, then a mix of Portuguese desserts, including an egg custard, poached pear and chocolate cake.
There was a short history of the vineyard and a little bit of time to walk around the beautiful gardens with excellent fountains and views over the vineyards.

An absolute pleasure of a time! My wife and I were able to have a dinner in a separate room from a large tour group, which means we had a private dinner experience. We were delighted with this and the tour guide would come in and explain each wine and dinner dish. She would explain the story behind the Portuguese history of this wine and dish. I have never experienced something like this, a real personal touch!. At the end when we paid the bill (extended cheap for the food and drink we had), we were gifted a complementary rose sparkling wine. We couldn't be more happy with our time here and would recommend this place 100%. Thank you so much Quinta da Avessada Team! Eamonn & Giselle.
