Similar to others, found this great cafe by walking a couple of blocks uphill from Hotel Zenite. Food was delicious, service was fast and friendly and atmosphere was very much non-touristy-local (in a good way). My two young kids loved it here also. Give it a try.

I've been on holiday on the island for 2 weeks and this is by far the restaurant with the best quality/price ratio. On the first day of our vacation, recognizing the city of Angra, we happened to pass by a picturesque street and decided to stop at a cafe to drink something, when we looked better we saw that they also served meals and as it was almost lunch time we decided to stay there. We ordered regional octopus rump for two people without knowing what it was, a clay pot came to the table with a generous amount of octopus and sauce accompanied by homemade fries, it was divine, the amount of octopus was so much that it was clearly enough for 3 or 4 people, in the end we paid around €20 for the meal. After this great experience we went back to eat the daily meal which includes bread and butter as a starter, soup, drink, main dish and coffee for just €8.5, the soup is very good and consistent, you can almost be satisfied just with the bread and soup but beyond that, the dishes contain large quantities of food and are very well prepared in a traditional way. For dessert, the homemade chocolate mousse is divine, I don't usually eat desserts but I ate it here several times because it reminded me of childhood times when I had a huge sweet tooth. In addition to all this, the employees are exceptional people, very polite, always having pleasant conversations and concerned about the well-being of the customers. I also really liked the atmosphere of the place, the people are very friendly and make conversation, helping about what to visit on the island or telling stories about their experiences in the past.I haven't left yet but I already miss Terceira, all good and simple people concerned with the well-being of those who visit them, this establishment is one of those responsible for this feeling.
