We beat the crowds on Sunday evening in May. The restaurant was a short 15 minute drive from Lousã where we were staying. The restaurant is very attractive & popular filling up quickly. I chose the steak on a tile with migas & volcano potatoes. Fantastic! (The steak was actually veal, super tender, juicy & delicious.) My boyfriend got the chicken with rice, which he enjoyed, but he said not exactly what he was expecting. Our friend had the seafood risotto which she liked but thought it was a little salty. We finished our meals & my boyfriend got an aperitif and asked for the dessert menu, which never came. We waited about 35-40 minutes more to try & get the check and noticed another table go up to the bar counter to pay. My friend & I went outside my boyfriend had to wait another 10 minutes to get the check & finally pay. The restaurant is very popular but was not completely full, think they need to add more servers to handle the crowd. So food 5 stars, service -4 stars.

We had an excellent lunch of very fresh fish. The helpings were very generous and we washed it down with 2 bottles of local wine. The price was reasonable and the view from the terrace is lovely. Me and my partner stopped at this lovely restaurant to get some fish and seafood after our whale watching excursion and I must say it’s been the best food I’ve had since being here. I’ve had a lot of fish and seafood in my life but the food that I ate at estrela do mar has left me wanting more. I definitely recommend getting the grilled lapas and the sword fish, it was amazing! The staff were super friendly and helpful.
