“Super delicious food, friendly and personable service. The ambience may not be the best, but the food was delicious! The cakes we had for dessert (chocolate cake & cheese-passion fruit cake) were homemade and simply delicious - I can only recommend them!“

“Super cute little but nice restaurant directly on the way to the lookout point. The food is all freshly prepared. Even the fries are freshly cut. Super nice boss who is happy to have a chat. I recommend everyone to stop there and have something to eat and drink.“

“Without exaggeration, one of the best meals we’ve ever had, and our favorite meal in Madeira. We got the beef brisket and pork shank, which were excellent! The meats are all marinated and smoked on-site and the flavors are truly delicious. To drink we just had the fresh squeezed lemonade which was wonderful. For dessert we had the passion fruit crème brûlée which was incredible. Wonderful and super friendly service! If you have the chance, definitely make it a point to try this place!“

“We took a break here while exploring Madeira. The Bar / Restaurant popped up at my Google maps and it was worth stopping by! Beautifully located in nature, modern Ambiente and good food & drinks! I had the vegetarian burger you see on the picture and it was delicious! From coffee to cocktails, from snacks to a full on menu - everyone will be pleased!“

“Address not to be missed in Porto Da Cruz:
We had the pleasure of discovering this restaurant which doesn't look much from the outside but which turns out to be a gem well known to the locals for its simple, homemade and fresh cuisine. Greeted by Suzanna with a great smile, in French, she brought us on a large platter 4 superb fresh whole fish from which to choose the one we were going to taste. Deliciously grilled, soft, we feasted on a superb sea bream, a hearty and tasty plate. So, either we don't have a sea view, the style is more tavern, with paneling but we delight our taste buds for a more than fair price, proof that the address is good, the queue, we don't don't reserve!! We had a great bowl, a free table straight away!! Local atmosphere, a little noisy but lively. All the staff are super efficient in serving and satisfying every guest. Congratulations to everyone, ...and kisses to Suzanna!
Kid-friendliness: Yes, it has high chairs for children and the waiters are attentive to them.“

“Me and my two friends went here for dinner one night and it was so good we came back several times during our stay! It's a rustic, small restaurant with a bar. The place was well attended, mostly by locals, which is usually a good sign. There is plenty of parking spots right next to the restaurant and you can sit outside or inside. The food was very tasty and the portions were huge. The prices are very fair.
Where the restaurant really shines is in the service, Lucio and his wife Isabel are very nice, hospitable and simply warm-hearted people!
All in all, I would recommend a meal at this restaurant to anyone passing by São Jorge! We will keep it in best memory and hope to see you again!
Thank you Lucio & Isabel :)“

“Amazing value for money.
We got bread and rolls for our hikes from there every morning. We also took the chicken pizza and some other savoury treats with us and everything was tasty.
We treated ourselves to a breakfast of cake one morning as there are soooo many to choose from. The slices are enormous.
Would recommend to have breakfast there every day to try everything. I tried a lot in a week but still feel I am missing out on some things :)“

“Poncha and a Nikita drink was needed on the trip and as we went to the peek of the island that day to see the sun set and this is a prime location for after or before staff are friendly atmosphere is awesome and the fresh air surrounding the area is the best
Parking: It's big enough for up to 30 cars give or take possibly more but also think it'll be different at various times of the day
Kid-friendliness: It's kid friendly although it's close to a not so busy road but caution is still key due to location
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes there is a ramp“

“Our lunch at the Lavrador São Vicente restaurant was a real highlight of our stay in São Vicente. We tried the grilled mussels and the fish of the day (sea bass) and were amazed by the quality and taste of the food. The mussels were grilled to perfection and the sea bass was fresh and superbly prepared.
The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. Despite the high quality of the dishes, the prices are more than fair, making this restaurant a must for anyone in São Vicente. The service is also particularly noteworthy: the service was extremely nice and made us feel very welcome.
Overall, we can only warmly recommend the Lavrador São Vicente restaurant. If you are in São Vicente, you definitely shouldn't miss this culinary experience!“

“We got there by accident while driving to the nuns' valley. It is a place visited mainly by the local community with local decor and atmosphere (I personally love and appreciate such places). The food is very tasty, fries cut from fresh potatoes (the large portion of fries is huge), delicious meat, wonderful vegetables. Local service with very basic English but I highly recommend it.“

“A must stop. They don't speak English, if you ask for an English menu they shake their heads. In a few words, they will tell you what, of course, has nothing to do with what you think. Here you really arrive in Madeira. You can eat well for cheap. It is not a place reserved for tourists. But Google is your friend, you can figure out what's going on and they don't care about you. ? Then you'll get something to eat. But you get the feeling of going to a local on Sunday. Don't ask for a cheese sandwich, because cold Gepsonka cold cheese is cold Madeira bread. But they bring it out in 1 minute.“

“Small, remote restaurant. Homemade cakes and smoothies are really tasty and freshly made. The poncha was rather medium, but above all not cold enough. Nevertheless, everything fits. I think you can definitely stop here. We didn't eat anything, but what we saw looked pretty good so far.“

“This is one of the authentic bars in Madeira. Starting from the front door itself, above which something about tradition is written, to the door handle itself, which is original and over 100 years old. The floor is made of cobblestone, old stone, like Skadarlija in Belgrade or in general the old pedestrian zone in cities. Inside there is an old anchor, lanterns, machines used to make wine, as well as various other decorative items. The choice of drinks is a separate story and I hope I won't scare you if I tell you that there are old bottles of wine that cost 2000 euros. Good old rum is served here as well as standard drinks. The view is beautiful because the sea is right across the street. Truly a place you should visit if you're passing by.“

“Wonderful hidden place with amazing traditional cakes and great coffee. It was so good that we ordered more )). So for 2 cakes, 2 cups of coffee and a bottle of water was 9 euro all together. The view is spectacular! Really enjoyed. Thank you.

“Its 11:00 pm & all restaurants were closed by the beach! This is a safe haven for late night eaters ! Ate ham & cheese toast & steak special sandwich that hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing. Drinks were delicious. Definitely recommend visiting.“

“We discovered this restaurant by chance on Maps and went there because of the very good reviews and experiences from others. We were enchanted by the food. The grilled tuna was phenomenally tender and juicy, we were completely thrilled. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The ambience and furnishings were very cozy and inviting. Highly recommended!“

“Because it looked like food across the street, but we just wanted something to drink, we ended up at John's. A very friendly lady who had lived in Switzerland for many years gave us very courteous advice at the counter, hence service 5 despite self-service. A bolo, an apple pie with the drinks, and the apple pie was wonderful with lots of cinnamon, which was a great snack and a very warm conversation.“

“On the outskirts of Santana. The best restaurant I have eaten in in Madeira. Above all quality and quantity. Homemade food with quality products and well cooked. Dishes like grandma's, goat, lamb, beef, desserts... It is worth keeping in mind that it would have been helpful to be guided in the portions. Thank goodness we didn't order starters. A shame because everything looked very good. They provide you with a taper to take away. Recommended 190%“

“Very tasty food, fast service. Came here on a recommendation. Two adults and two children €56.70. We took pao de caco, lapash, eshpada filet, it was simply divine and prego children on a plate. Portions are very large. I recommend this restaurant, it will be delicious.“

“I would rate it 10/5 if I could. Dad manned the grill, while mom fried up some of the best fries. An authentic family owned restaurant, SO friendly and helpful. EVERYTHING is home grown, so it's a true farm to table Portuguese experience. MUST GO.“

“My favorite restaurant in Madeira. We visited multiple times during our vacation. Joe Carlos is an awesome dude who gives his best for the customers satisfaction. We loved the fish from the catch of the day. They use special spices for that. You can eat while having a panoramic view.
I can really recommend you to come here and try the catch of the day.“

“Portela À Vista Restaurant is fantastic and very easy to find. I have never been to a more beautiful restaurant with such a fantastic view of nature.
On Saturdays, we knew in advance that there would be a lot of people waiting for a table, so we called the day before to make a reservation. When we arrived at Portela Restaurant, we only had to wait for a few minutes.
We asked the waitress for the traditional food, espetada with French fries, and the food was excellent. The prices for food and drinks were very reasonable considering the quality offered.
However, we were not pleased with the service. The waitress was occasionally inconvenient and often seemed upset about things that customers shouldn’t need to be concerned with.“
“Sunday afternoon we were the only people there, opted for coffee and cake. Turned out to be the best banana cake ever! Freshly made, moist, light, tasty, just wonderful. 2 x coffees 2 chunks of banana cake €7 bargain! OK so the back to the levada is up a steep hill but hey, I do it evety day for a slab of that cake !“

“Four of us ate here. The selection of meat dishes is extensive. However, the vegetarian selection is very clear and unimaginative. There is room for improvement. The meat dishes were very good. Side dishes had to be ordered separately, which we classified as too expensive. The vegetarian dish we ordered (vegetable canoe) looked good. However, the vegetables were “very well done”. The mixed dessert plate we ordered was great - you should share it. The wine list offers a very large selection. Ambience is quaint.
Vegetarian options: Hardly any good vegetarian dishes“

“We came across this restaurant by chance, kindly recommended by the host of our apartment in Sao Vinci. We had the rice with octopus, the grilled octopus, and the octopus with beans. It was all really delicious, the best place in all of Madeira. The staff were very kind and helpful. The portions were really very generous, so much so that we asked if we could take home what was left over. In Italy we are not used to such large portions at such a low price. I would definitely go back!!! I recommend it to everybody.
P.s the view of the sea is enchanting“

“Super nice atmosphere, they give you the option of eating outside or inside on the terrace, drinks and dessert not included in the price. Everything is homemade and with views of the sea, the food is all good and will not leave a bad taste in your mouth. I totally recommend it. They understand Spanish well.“
“This is a typical local smoll bar, you can have something to eat/drink even try local snacks and drinks.

“We spent our evening in Santo! Antonio DA Serra and the least we can say is that the offer of restaurants in the town is not enormous! The restaurant at our hotel was full so we opted for this restaurant! Well, nothing extraordinary in terms of the cuisine, it's good but not enough to blow your mind either...we had a soup, a sardine salad (3 exactly in the dish...) and a stew...on the other hand It’s not expensive 51 euros for all that!“

“Local in the center of Santana with seating both inside (air-conditioned room) and outside on a pleasant terrace, with convenient free parking nearby. We took the stuffed persimmon bolo and a Maracuja cheesecake. The sandwich and the quality of the ingredients are excellent (we recommend the one with the steak and egg which is more typical rather than the one with the hamburger inside). Mediocre cheesecake, I don't recommend it. Two sandwiches, two drinks and a dessert, just over 20 euros. Good value for money.“

“I ate here by chance and it was amazing! The food was really well made; it felt like homemade in the best way possible . the chorizo and alheira were delicious, the meats were very tasty ! I ate really well– I left satisfied. Totally recommend this spot!“
“1. The meals are simple, yet beautifully prepared and presented. 2. The food is of the highest standard (we had the espetada, cooked over an open wood fire). 3. The service is extremely friendly – they make you feel a welcome guest 4. The ‘jar’ of the local red wine was quite something 5. The homemade mousse was delicious (but difficult to keep to just 1 portion!) We wished we had been staying in Santo da Serra another day so that we could come back again.“

“If you’re looking for a local place to eat authentic local food, then this is it! Not a fancy restaurant with a large menu. 5-6 typical dishes from Madeira, great homemade sweets, fresh bread and wine, poncha or beer. You don’t need anything else! Highly recommended.“

“This place has been recommended from someone who lives on Madeira. This has been the best bakery on the island. Quality and price wise: we had 2 drinks (coffee and fresh orange juice) and 3 pieces to eat and paid only 9,30 euro. The bakery pieces were fresh and still warm. Absolutely delicious: taste perfect, consistency perfect.“

“Honor to the humble local places of Madeira, honestly it was what we were looking for. A place that we could define as home-made and a little spartan, with a visible grill inside the restaurant, the chefs who could have been my uncle and aunt at the barbecue on May 1st, I was already excited (if I wanted to go to the restaurant I went to Milan, my opinion). Breathtaking view from the balcony for this small restaurant located at the base of the mountains that surround it in their entirety. Super cheap place, with 7 euros we got a "complete" dish of chicken and pork, rice, potatoes and salad... fantastic. I want to point out the kindness of the waitresses, they made us feel at home. Go there“

“It is a striking restaurant, due to its shape and location.
Located in São Vicente Bay, it is a restaurant with different types of appetizers, seafood dishes, meat or quick things to snack on like prego sandwiches or hot dogs.
The prices are a little high, but due to being characteristic of the area and being a highly touristy area, it is to be expected.
Parking: Few parking spaces available nearby.“

“We stopped here for lunch and we were not disappointed. Their bruschetta was amazing, aswell as their chicken toast. We also tried a dessert called a chocolate surprise and it was delicious. Even though we expected a small lunch, we got huge portions that we couldn't finish. The young man who served us was super kind. I would definitely recommend this place. :)“
