Marie e Oli’s & Marie’s Bistro

Amazing food. There are so many vegan options it took me ages to decide and they're not just the standard burger, curry or pasta that most places offer. The restaurant is in a back street away from all the hustle and bustle so the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing meal. Marie is so friendly and welcoming and very attentive, she went through the menu with us and explained what the dishes were.

So many vegetarian and vegan options available! Some “veganized” versions of typical Portuguese dishes that really hit close home. The staff is also extremely friendly and with a very positive energy!

We were very surprised by the big offer of vegan/vegetarian dishes. Although they serve meat and fish the vegan dishes play as much an important role which is not common. The food was mindblowing and all the 4 of us were surprised, satisfied and happy. We enjoyed tapas as starters, different main dishes and the recommended dessert combination. Marie was very attentive, friendly and helpful - one can feel her passion.

We stumbled upon this restaurant after a day of exploring beaches in the Algarve. They have a huge vegan selection and nearly every item can be made vegan. Some of the best food we had on our trip. I cannot wait to come back and explore other menu items.

Would give this 5 stars if I could! Marie and Oli were very friendly and welcoming from the start, giving us great recommendations and pointing out all the clearly marked vegan options. My girlfriend and I had a starter, main, dessert and cocktail each for a total of €80; very reasonable given the very high quality ingredients, delicious meals, drinks, wonderful decor atmosphere and fast service! Marie's passion for cooking vegan food and her attention to detail really shines through, definitely recommend this place to any vegan visiting the area!

The best vegan food for miles! The home made bread! The pickled carrots! We ate way too much of course because everything sounded so yummy, I had to have the leftovers of my main (the roast!!!) be packed up in a doggie bag and will forever regret I didn’t have space for dessert😩! Both Mari and Oli are super nice and made us feel welcome and taken care of❤️ the vegan menu literally fills pages and even though there is a selection of fish and meat dishes, the vegan menu has more choices than most all-vegan restaurant, so I would regard it as a “restaurant within a restaurant” and give it 5 stars!!!

Comida muito má, serviram-me uma sopa do dia, alegadamente creme de tomate, e era simplesmente polpa de tomate despejada para a tigela e aquecida no micro-ondas, estava tão mau que não consegui acabar. Serviram 4 rodelas de chourição por 4 euros, 4 palitos de batatas por 4 euros, e nem qualidade para 1 euro havia. A responsável é uma senhora muito simpática, que contrasta com o marido, que está sentido na esplanada a fumar, e de má cara, e vai frequentemente ajudar na cozinha, muito contrariado e a fumar dentro da cozinha, dentro do balcão, e dentro do restaurante. Só tenho pena da responsável, porque tudo foi nojento, desde a atitude e comportamento do senhor como da comida. Horrível.

Einfach und Frisch. Die Chefs sind symphatisch und aufmerksam. Hingehen und culinarisch verwohnen lassen. Unbedingt die Dessertvariation probieren.

We had a very nice vegetarian meal with an appetizer, main dish and dessert. Everything was delicious and there are a lot of vegetarian options. The host was very friendly. The owners are German but speak many languages fluently. The food looked and tasted amazing! We truly recommend eating here if you love good home made food with great taste.

Good food

My boyfriend and I were so happy to have stumbled upon this restaurant. We were really worried about finding vegan food in Portugal, but this restaurant made us feel like we were not missing out- they even had vegan "seafood" which was delicious. I am from NYC and we have tried many vegan restaurants, and this one easily competes with the best. Marie was so kindhearted and thoroughly explained the dishes and her story of how she and her husband Oli created the restaurant, and how they adapted the vegan recipes. You must try the chestnut dish, it is from a German recipe from the year 900! This restaurant was a highlight of our trip.

Marie is a charming hostess and inspired chef, who, like Saint Hildegard, doles out wisdom and transmutes the ordinary into the divine. Do *NOT* miss your opportunity to experience this marvelous cuisine and hospitality.

We stopped here for dinner on our way to our holiday destination not expecting much and the food ended up being SO GOOD that we’re stopping there on our way back again. There are PLENTY of vegan options in the menu, and the 4 of us asked for different dishes. Every single one of them were delicious. Vegan or not you’re going to love the food here. The food was delicious and the ambiance is very cozy. The menu is mainly veggie and vegan and there are plenty meat and fish options. Words cannot describe how lovely the service was. Marie is very friendly and thoughtful. I would give it 5⭐ if I could
