“Best restaurant so far on the Island! Real portugese Ford at reasonable price. Don't forget to eat the chocolate cake!
Kid-friendliness: They offered to share a plate for kids although we wanted to order to dishes. Kids loved the food“

“We hadn't booked but they got us a table, super staff! The food is nothing to envy of anyone, one of the best octopuses I have eaten. Everything fresh and delicious. Quick to serve and we will definitely be back! Excellent prices for the quality of the food“

“Twee keer gegeten in 2 dagen. Worden vriendelijk geholpen. Serveerders rennen hun longen uit hun lijf. Tip: homemade icetea passievrucht is heerlijk, net als de brownie! Elke burger is lekker, dus maakt niet uit welke je kiest. Ook nog eens heel goedkoop.“

“super cool place. Went there yesterday with my wife. Decent tapas size (2-3 per person, we ate two each). The garden at the back is amazing and worth enjoying with food and drinks. The only thing I could be picky on is there were no IPA beers (I wasn't expecting any tbh, it's rare here). I had a cocktail instead, very nice and totally worth walking a bit further out of the main touristy area! Totally a different vibe :-)
Vegetarian options: there some vege options (patatas bravas, padron peppers, etc)
Kid-friendliness: there was families around. The staff was very friendly with kids, and it's spacious enough in the garden so they have space to play“

“My husband & friend really enjoyed the Francesinha sandwich. Fries were tasty. Grilled chicken was tasty though like many restaurants on Sao Miguel, they seem to use a lot of salt - at least for my taste. My husband doesn't agree with me. Very friendly service from the hardworking bartender (perhaps owner) who took our order and served the food. Nice view if you get a window seat. Pleasant ambiance.“

“Four days of my holidays in Ponta Delgada I have been to many restaurants with high rates, above 4,7. Waited in a queue for 30 min in each especially during the dinner time. And on the 4th day I found this snack bar Apito Dourado. I took tuna steak two time, soups of the day. Everything was very delicious. And the service was excellent. I have been there 3 times since then and always found a spot to sit. Highly recommend this place!“

“One of the best steaks I ever tried, so yummy ?.
We also tried the garlic bread and lapas, both delicious.
Quality price, very generous.
Strongly recommend.
They don't accept table reservations, the waiting time can be long but worth it.“

“A spectacular place, from the outside it looks like a very simple bar, but the food is very delicious. We ordered soup of the day €2.5, sao jorge cheese €4 (cured cheese), cod €19 and roasted octopus €20 (spectacular), the best octopus we have ever tried. Overall a very good place“

“Een hele leuke simpele strand- en cocktailbar. Niet pretentieus, maar gewoon gezellig en lekker kneuterig. Ik durf best te zeggen dat ze de lekkerste hamburgers van het eiland hebben.
Vegetarian options: Vegetarische hamburger“

“We came unexpectedly and even without a reservation they served us very quickly, the service is excellent and the food is very delicious. They are apparently two people, one in the kitchen and one serving, super attentive and with an incredible memory. We tried the special mixed rodizio (one for two people) some potatoes, salad, drinks, dessert and coffee. It has a good family atmosphere but is prepared mainly for you to eat and that's it. It has several meat alternatives depending on the type you like and since you grill it yourself it is always at the perfect point. I loved it and I recommend it. The house cake that day was caramel... Great!!“

“Nice clean place. Got passion fruit moose here, which was delicious . Came in to dine but the place does not accept the credit cards so had to snack and leave.
Parking: There is no parking by the restaurant, if driving you should park somewhere on the street and pay for the parking. Walking is the best“
“The best meal that I had on Sao Miguel. Everything tasted gourmet but the prices were so Reasonable. The restaurant is run by a lovely & personable husband and wife team that you will be personally greeted by. Our table f 4 had soup, entree, dessert & plenty of wine all for under 100 Euros. Highly recommend ad can’t wait to go back. So many other things on the menu I want to try. Very quaint so I recommend making reservations.“

“UNBELIEVABLY good food and cocktails, especially for the price. I've paid four times as much for the same quality at gourmet restaurants. The drinks are exceptional and very creative, and every course we tried from the tasting menu was amazing. The restaurant itself is also very pretty, with views over the ocean and being located in an old fort.
This might be one of the best restaurants I've been to.
Parking: 10-20 spots behind, past a somewhat confusing street“

“It's mainly the locals who eat here, and less the tourists. Because you have to know where it is. However, if you love meat, you will find one of the best meat restaurants on the island. It is located on an agricultural facility, so actually right at the source... Most of the meat pieces are 300 grams in size and can be chosen in three different quality levels.
There are also various homemade sauces, for example inspirations with pepper or cheese.
The restaurant is very popular, you can either reserve directly or have yourself added to the list on site.
The portions are quite generous and the matching wines are also on offer. So, when you are in Sao Miguel, you should visit this restaurant if you love meat. (Fine tuna is also available)“

“A magical experience and a must in the Azores. Grab a drink and take a stroll around the garden as the sun sets then sit down to a multicourse meal of delicious, truly local (as local as it gets) food. The preparations are simple and humble, so if you’re expecting a Michelin style meal, you’ll possibly be let down. However, if you appreciate a home cooked meal of the highest level, this is nothing but a memorable experience.“

“MEAL AS A COUPLE: VERY GOOD
A la carte food: moderate price, great quality and friendliness of the boss.
We recommend battlements, octopus, cod tuna, the carmes better on Sunday
FOOD IN TOURIST GROUP: PRETTY BAD
Vegetable soup, and pork buffet accompanied by white rice, potatoes and pasta with salad. All well washed down with white or red wine. They don't have coffee despite having a coffee maker.“

“Very nice staff, standing in the entrance and looking for a seat, a nice older lady approached us and despite the language barrier (she spoke little English) quickly solved the problem with a table for 4 people on the nice outdoor terrace. We ate delicious burgers and salads, drank delicious lemonade with a hint of cinnamon and got aromatic and tasty coffee. We recommend it wholeheartedly “

“One of the best experiences we had on Sao Miguel. The food was amazing and the service was excellent, especially considering this is kind of a school/training restaurant.
The dishes could have been served in a fine dining restaurant as well but were super affordable/reasonable priced. Three courses for 2 persons and a bottle of water & bottle of wine for 60€.
Definitely a hidden diamond, it is a little off the standard route around the harbour. Totally recommend!“
“Chose this restaurant for our first night in the area (always a good test!) and we were not disappointed. Lovely friendly welcome, great setting out on the terrace, perched on a Cliffside and some lovely fresh pink to get the evening off to a start. The fish was delicious and we were all delighted with the dishes and flavours. Definitely worth booking to get a nice table.“

“It's simply great! When I say this, I mean it's simple because you don't need anything fancy to eat well in Portugal; and it's literally great whatever you eat here! You can order fish or meat, chips or rice, or (my favourite) cheese platter or prawns, I guarantee all will be excellent! I should also mention that you have a great host there, Nuno! He will greet you with a smiley face and make your lunch/dinner an enjoyable experience. Thanks to him and everyone who works in the restaurant for some very fond memories. I'll always remember the food and the friendship... oh yes, highly recommended!“

“An all you can eat? At the buffet? So ugly inside? Clearly made for passing tourists? How good could it ever be? And instead it's a bomb. Arroz do Pato (Portuguese duck and chorizo rice) outrageously good. The stewed lamb is also notable. Overall excellent food, excellent desserts. 20 euros each well spent. Be careful not to eat too much (it makes you want to) because then you have to walk!“

“09/20/2023 -> I went to have lunch at this restaurant with some friends. We went without a reservation and therefore had some luck when we arrived as the restaurant was full and there was only one table free next to a television. The restaurant is a family restaurant concept in which there are limited dishes available and they are sold out as customers arrive. Unfortunately they only had rump at that time, so this was the dish chosen. The food was good (good quality meat), with a very generous portion being served (typical presentation of a tavern). It's a good regional "tasca" type restaurant. Maybe I'll have to go back to try other dishes to make a more accurate assessment ?“

“We came after reading the reviews and we don't regret it at all!
If you are lucky enough to be close to the windows the view is breathtaking.
The dishes are delicious and the service is impeccable!
I recommend the two dishes in photos! Bacalao (fish dish) and pork in pineapple! The pineapple was really EXCELLENT!“

“We had a wonderful dinner at Casa Nostra. We chose a la carte and had the homemade ravioli, pulpo and sirloin steak. Everything was very delicious and beautifully presented.
The dessert was also very nice, but for my taste it was lacking the pear flavor.
The service was friendly and the restaurant inside was beautiful. We sat outside in the small back terrace which was nice just the floor was very wet from the air conditioner.
I would recommend to make a reservation to sit inside.
Dietary restrictions: They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions which was great!“

We were unlucky with the service, the girl probably had a bad day or was unfortunately not suitable
Would I eat there again? Yes, the atmosphere and food were good, service can vary...“

“This place was recommanded to us by our taxi driver. The omelette portion was massive, we could barely finish our plate, good value for the money. Good omelettes, good fries, good coffee. The place offers wifi. The staff was efficient. Lots of space to sit outside, but a bit crammed inside. The place is just ok! We enjoyed our meal but would not go back.“

“Excellent restaurant typical of the Azores and Portugal! The atmosphere is very friendly and the cuisine is simple but excellent! The only (small) downside is that the service time is a little long but we are not in a hurry, we are on vacation!? We really recommend this place!!??“

“This is the edge of the tourism sector. Locally owned and operated, we enjoy it for the kindness, service and delicious meals.
Many tourists miss out which is a missed place on their bingo card. We come for calm, kind, peaceful dinning.
I can compare their steaks/carne (lombo de vaca) to the special aged steaks costing 4 times the price.
A VERY BIG local favorite. Reservations highly recommended during high season. Like many places. They may look empty, but are completely reserved for the evening.
Tonight 2 entrees, 3 glasses of wine between 2 people (not each) and dessert undert 60 euro.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is parking nearby, one step and staff is happy to help.“

“A week ago, we visited this restaurant and I highly recommend going here for halibut. Very well prepared and, most importantly, a huge portion of fish. The additions are also tasty, but there could be a bit more of them.
The service was very nice, but I have a small reservation about it.
Namely, when I came back from the toilet, I saw that on the table we had appetizers, bread, olives and cheese. The girl said that the waiter simply brought it to us and we treated it as an appetizer, which is at the expense of the restaurant (because some places serve such appetizers). Next time it's worth saying that it will have to be paid because it happened to be students ;)
Nevertheless, olives and cheese are very good :)“

“THE BEST RESTAURANT ON THE ISLAND
Quality, I went with my girlfriend and they treated us like real kings, great fish, incredible wine and very good desserts
If you come to Sao Miguel, a mandatory stop

“The large Rodizio is served on Friday evenings and Sunday lunches. So we had an á la carte dish.
The food was very good and served quickly. The waiter was very accommodating with a smile on his face.
The steak experience is a little different than usual. Thinly sliced with sauce and egg. Very good! After all, you're on vacation to try new things and it's worth it.
The price was absolutely reasonable for the quantity.
Highly recommended.“
“On the ground floor of the Acores Atlântico 5 hotel ⭐️A piano bar with a lounge atmosphere, very good musicians, good cocktails and other alcohols. It is also a restaurant, with late service, and very good value for money and careful service.“
“We are visiting Sao Miguel from New York and stopped for lunch. We did not have any alcohol but it is evident this place has everything. The food was great- we had one order of steak and fries and one cheese omelet with fries. The steak was a thin piece, but very tasty and the omelet was very good. The fries were warm and crispy. BUT the pineapple gelato was absolutely to die for!!! Certain the best ice cream we ever had. I was told it’s home-made and that seems certain. And the bill for all the food, 2 sodas, and some good chicken soup was 21 Euros. Astounding. Very highly recommend!!“

“We visited the grotto next door and that's when we noticed the restaurant. The food was very tasty...luckily we were there early, because later on the service was a bit slow due to the long distances. Each waiter had to bring their own drinks, which also delayed the service.
But all in all, we ate and drank very well for little money by German standards.?“

“It was a good quality meal, despite the choice and the menu indicating what came, the waitress was not explicit about the dish itself, this is because it is a little different from the dish that you can choose with spicy or with cheese, which then it was somewhat corrected by her tablemate. Affordable price, easy access, private and public parking with a good environment. I recommend!
Vegetarian options: With several options.
Parking: There are several parking lots available, at the restaurant itself and those on the street that leads to the Urban Park.
Kid-friendliness: No restrictions. There is a park for children to play.
Wheelchair accessibility: No restrictions.
With elevator access there is a dining room.“

“Loved this restaurant. My wife and I had the seafood pasta and regional steak and both were very flavourful. The steamed side salad that came with the steak wasn’t our thing but that was ok given the size of the mains. We also liked the relaxed feel of the place and lovely waiter who was both friendly and funny! Only other feedback would be to consider updating your google opening hours as we were lucky you were open on Monday when google said you were closed.“

“We were headed toward another restaurant that was in all the guide books but walked by and liked the vibe here. Two menus awaited, one more Asian inspired and the other more in line with European cuisine. Three appetizers, three entrees, and one dessert later there was no question of the rightness of our serendipitous choice. Great atmosphere, professional service, and the best meal of our trip. No photos because we were enjoying the experience too much to pull out the phones. Bravo“

“Ate very well, the fish was excellent and fresh. However, at the time of the bill we noticed that we had been given an unsolicited entrée, which we thought was a gift from the house; the bottle of wine arrived already open, we would have preferred to see it opened at the table. It's a shame because it is a very valid and characteristic place“

“Traditional home cooking at traditional prices. Two very generous dishes + 2 desserts + coffees + drinks + cheese starter (delicious) with bread, €33. To access the restaurant you have to climb some stairs entering through the door on the right and only enter the dining room, we saw local people from the town eating in the restaurant: a very good sign. “Well, I honestly loved this place, in fact I only stopped going the day it closed during the four days of my stay in Ponta Delgada. To those of you who call the waiters rude, I will tell you that they smiled at me and treated me with kindness, of course it is because years ago I shook off my colonialist dandruff when traveling. “Local place, that makes grilled food for locals.
The locals eat there before the tourists, as they pass by their tables, but the wait is worth it.
They prepare a mix of grilled meats with potatoes that, in addition to being well cooked, you can see the quality of the meat.
More than reasonable prices.
The staff is friendly.
I recommend it“
