“We came here twice for dinner and both were fabulous. The owner speaks little to no English but we managed fine with our limited Portuguese! He does everything himself so service can sometimes be slow but he is so attentive and looked after us amazingly both times we visited. Food was delicious, cooked beautifully, and the portions were extremely generous. Good quality beer and wine on tap. Will certainly be visiting again if I return to Lisbon and I’d recommend anyone else to do the same :)“

“Praça Velha continues to be our go-to restaurant for the prato do dia. Every day, there is a meat or fish dish that is accompanied by salad and potatoes or rice. The meal is started with fresh soup and includes coffee and a dessert (often fresh fruit, chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, or baked cinnamon apple). The prato do dia is always a very-reasonable price and the owners and servers are excellent. You really feel at home here, as they treat each diner with respect. The food is always fresh! It is an easy walk from the main street (one block from the market area) and is nestled in a quaint street. There are about 12 tables for four, one table for 8 or 9, and numerous patio tables.“
