Vim numa escapadinha com o minha namorada, mas já queremos trazer a família inteira para vir aqui experimentar! Comemos T-bone, acompanhado com arroz branco e batata frita ? Ah! De entrada alheira frita, também maravilhosa!“

“We went in a group of practically 50 people to try this house. In a normal restaurant you would expect the quality to be compromised by the number of people in our group. But this is not a normal restaurant. It is simply one of the best restaurants in Portugal! The best veal, potatoes, goat, cabidela... everything that was placed on the table was superb. Including desserts. Congratulations on your home, we will certainly be back“

“I had the pleasure of dining at Quinta da Lama, a former olive oil mill that has been transformed into a delightful restaurant. The place exudes a cozy and rustic charm, with clay pots and vintage stone adorning the dining room. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, from traditional Portuguese cuisine to Mediterranean and European influences. I opted for the “posta à lagar”, a succulent tenderloin steak cooked in olive oil and garlic, and the cod with cornbread, a classic Portuguese dish that was moist and flavorful. Both dishes were exquisite and prepared with fresh and quality ingredients. The salads and bread were also very good. For dessert, I indulged in the “leite creme”, a creamy custard with a caramelized crust. It was heavenly, one of the best I ever had. I also enjoyed the house wine, a local red wine that complemented the food perfectly. The service was impeccable and attentive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. I had a splendid time at Quinta da Lama and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying dining experience in Amarante.“

“Sushi lovers: This is a must. Servings and presentation are great. Ingredients are fresh and natural. Definitely NOT an average buffet sushi. In addition, restaurant is very cozy and staff very helpful, friendly and kind. You can't leave this place without trying their amazing "sangria".“

“I stopped by Penafiel by chance and stumbled upon Ze Gusto. What a wonderful surprise! I tried the daily special, which was a tender and juicy cut of tuna accompanied by thin and crispy homemade fries. The wine list looks amazing as well. I highly recommend this place, 100%.“

“Restaurant for a quick and economical meal.
The space is very pleasant, the friendliness of the team too.
They didn't give a menu, they just said the dish of the day and it was good.
For €8.5, we got bread, which was great; drink, I opted for the red verde wine, very good; soup, it was good; dish, which was also good and well served; and dessert that didn't compromise.
In the end the quality, quantity / price ratio is very good.“

“I would say that it is almost the best sushi I have ever tried in my life. Since we were in Portugal we wanted to have something more traditional but we ended up here and we couldn't be happier. The sushi was delicious and they did very good service, the buffet price is GREAT!
Vegetarian options: If you tell them that you are vegetarian, they will make you a more personalized sushi for you, this is what they did for my friend who was delighted.“

“I really liked! We ate garlic bread with cheese and bacon, the potatoes with cheddar cheese and bacon are incredibly good, I had a spectacular Calzone that I loved, and the kinder bueno cheesecake dessert is good. But the crepes are divine! I went with a group of friends, the atmosphere is good for talking and hanging out, and the staff are very friendly.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, it is, there is Portuguese pavement around it but the entrance is level.“

We tasted several things and accompanied everything with some house wine. It was all very good.

“One of the best restaurants in the area. The service is absolutely excellent. All the staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is cooked to perfection and the portions are absolutely huge. Price wise I think it’s very cheap for what you get. I’d recommend any meat dish but the “polvo a lagareiro” is exquisite. Give this place a try, you will not regret it!“

“In the city center we discovered this excellent restaurant that welcomed us very warmly. We chose a table on the balcony which gave our dinner a fresh feel.
The food was excellent, with simple things but very well combined, for example, mushrooms with cheese and a touch of mint....... Desserts follow the same policy.
Place to consider whenever you return to Amarante“

“Today for lunch was my first time at Cancela Velha. It was busy but no waiting, seated immediately. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Was with my brother and our Portuguese language teacher. We all ordered the soup (nabissa), breads and olives and cheese appetizers, bacalhau cakes, daily special (pescado and arroz com gelho). Appetizers, soup, and daily fish and rice specials were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the rice. We ordered some traditional deserts, natas de ceu, pudin, bolo traditional. Deserts were delicious especially the natas de ceu. We ordered an apple turnover to take home for our mom. Our server said “warm it slightly and serve with ice cream”, which of course we did. Our mom is 92 and she has tried a lot of apple turnovers in her 9+ decades, and she said “this is the best I have tasted, get more next time please.” Overall an excellent experience and since we are now locals, we will be back again!“

“This place gets a lot of attention on YouTube, so we gave it a go. It’s a bit claustrophobic, the tables are fairly close together, so if you like your space this mightn’t be for you. The food was top notch and the staff were friendly, so top marks here!“

“(Translated by Google) A very welcoming place to try the best convent sweets in Amarante! ????It was in this tiny but super cozy teahouse (which even looks like a doll's house), that we ate 3 of the most typical conventual sweets from the north of our country: Lérias, rockets and Tâmega breezes.Overlooking the river itself and very well received by an employee who was kind enough to tell us a little about each one of them. You can see that here all the sweets are made with care and attention that is different from all the other pastry shops we went to in Amarante :)The biggest highlight goes to the Lérias (I'm suspicious because a good almond always comes in handy)! There was still to be tasted the famous papos de Anjo, and São Gonçalo - which will certainly stay for a next time ????Ps. I also highlight the phallic sweet, which contrary to the traditional and what you see in other pastry shops, is not made with a hard and dry dough, but with an “eclair” style dough.(Original)Um sítio muito acolhedor para experimentar os melhores doces conventuais de Amarante!

“(Translated by Google) Beautiful space and very quiet environment. Friendly service, but inefficient in the proposal of options to eat. No tapas or list service were suggested, just simple dishes of the day. At another table, another collaborator presented a larger "range" of alternatives - we had already placed the order - It was the main reason for the classification. After the start of lunch, it was suggested to bring more fillets and/or accompaniments if desired. The hake fillet and potatoes were delicious. Biscuit cake is also very good. I would like to point out that we were at the restaurant next door waiting for the table to be cleaned, when I noticed that there was a tapas house - with good recommendation "maps"... Easy parking in front or on the street. Cheap price with coffee included in the dish of the day.(Original)Espaço bonito e com ambiente muito sossegado.

“What a wonderful meal! Unexpectedly we debuted Oma's new menu. Everything was excellent, but when we talked about the meal again the opinion was unanimous, and the highlights were: the brioche (from the house's homemade breads), the cauliflower purée from the starter, the crispy potato (from the Presa à Bulhão Pato) and the texture of the Veal. In dessert, the highlighted element was fig leaf oil. The chef's mastery was noted, accompanied by the extreme friendliness of the service. Ending as we began: a wonderful meal!“
