This is the most outstanding and well priced food I’ve ever eaten in my time in lisbon you really can’t get anything else like it
I love this place, we were here yesterday and followed the phone GPS to come back here again and of course we'll come back tomorrow again lol. The food is absolutely delicious, the staff is amazing i have no words to describe how awsome this place is, authentic delicious portuguese cuisine. Don't go to Lisbon's centre, come to Bairro Alto where the action is. We are in our late 60's but enjoy their great night life, young and old but don't forget to eat here at Cantinho das Giveas
Stopped off for lunch today. Food was lovely excellent valve. very friendly staff JainJunior excellent service highly recommend will definitely be back.
We are staying close by and went for convenience. The food was OK but not what we thought we were ordering. We asked the waiter (clearly an immigrant) what a dish was. We were told fish. We got beef. It was good. The black beans were fantastic. If you need to eat and they have a table, then go. Otherwise, I think better food is available where the owners care. The saving grace is that it is relatively inexpensive. Skip the house white and get something in a bottle.
Don't be fooled by the fake smiles, this place is just another disingenuous tourist trap. We passed by the restaurant in the afternoon and thought it looked nice so we booked a table outside for 8 people at 7.30 in the evening. We arrived at 7.34 only to find that the table we had been promised had already been filled with 3 groups of diners and there were no other tables available. Instead of apologising, the little bald front of house guy then proceeded to tell me that he had given the table away as we had arrived late (4 mins) eventhough it was clear that the diners had been there for some time. I obviously can't comment on the food but if you want a friendly, honest and genuine restaurant then don't come here!
(Translated by Google) Very good homemade food and very friendly staff. I recommend!(Original)Comida caseira muito boa e pessoal muito simpático. Recomendo!
Cantinho las Gaveas is a nice very centrally located restaurant serving many international as well as Portuguese guests. The cuisine is simple and traditional portuguese, all our dishes were good. Service is likeable, although there was a huddle with our reservation. The red wine is a bit too warm because, as in so many places, the bottles are stored in the dining room. Still I can recommend the place for a nice dinner in downtown Lisbon.
We went twice to this restaurant this week. The first visit was good we had a lovely waiter the second awful. A slightly balding waiter who thought he was extremely amusing. We wanted a half bottle of wine he gave us both a glass of port. I told him I do not like port he did not take it off the bill. He put olives cheese and bread down on the table as soon as we sat down we said we didn’t order it. He was keen for us to try we said no and had to place it on the next table to stop him hassling us. He was obnoxious really, he kept pretending to give our daughters their plates then taking them away. They are young and without prompting from us said he was ‘weird’, our bill was much more than it should of been. Don’t bother go to the Barrio de Alliez restaurant where the staff have been trained properly and are respectful and do their job well. This place is a rip off the food is very average and the service is awful.
Excellent food. Outstanding service by a very pleasant and patient server. Very price competitive compared to the terrible overpriced restaurants in the main drag. Don’t go to the main drag we waited 30 minutes for a drink and menu and walked out.
Restaurantji Recommends
Feel very ery disappointed and exploited, we had a great meal and after waiter offered us a glass of port. We gladly accepted assuming on the house as he just appeared and we did not choose. Bill at end of evening we were charged outrageous price for something we didn't even order. We queried it and he said he would give us port tomorrow free... We were hoping to go back with our family. Very disappointed with this very underhand tactic. We won't be back
The service was excellent. English speaking staff. Very good wine recommendation, vinho verde. Very good starters, olives, cheese & bread. We ordered salmon, lamb and chicken. Main courses were ok, same as elsewhere in Lisbon. Nice location.
Wonderful place finded just walking near Chiado. One of the last restaurant where the waiter is not leaping on you if you pass in front of. Tasty and bargain meal, Kind waiter. Recommended by another customer, and we wasn’t deceived!
Excellent service, food, atmosphere and price. We had rice with see food and grilled cod, house wine, dessert. Everything was delicious.
Location- at a street corner in barrio alto , near baixo chiado station . Ambiance- very casual , simple , no thrills Service - friendly, efficient Food - great , if not wow . My friends and I shared some sort of tomato salad which was good . I had the soupy seafood rice dish - the taste of the broth was very good ; the bits of seafood in it were decent , if not amazing. Serving size was generous If u are looking for a simple Portuguese restaurant in barrio alto , I do recommend this place
