We went in a group of practically 50 people to try this house. In a normal restaurant you would expect the quality to be compromised by the number of people in our group. But this is not a normal restaurant. It is simply one of the best restaurants in Portugal! The best veal, potatoes, goat, cabidela... everything that was placed on the table was superb. Including desserts. Congratulations on your home, we will certainly be back

Located in the Parish of Bairros in Castelo de Paiva, on the hillside with the Paiva River in the background and overlooking the beautiful Quinta da Fisga manor, this Dona Amélia has been a well-known place for many years, even in the time of its founder, the I miss Mr Fontes. In the hands of nephews who knew how to maintain the high gastronomic standard, it is undoubtedly a place of excellence for oven-baked dishes, namely roast veal and roast lamb. The manually powered coal oven is one of the secrets, but the skill of the cooks is essential to say that you will hardly find better roast veal in our country. The steak is also an excellent dish. To all this, there is a beautiful view if you are lucky enough to stay on the balcony and a helpful and very friendly service from the staff. It is without a doubt an unmissable place for our gastronomy.
