Visiting Barcelos for the first time -- Gulli Bites is a delicious introduction to this beautiful & friendly place! Elsa (manager & chef) served us up mouth-watering bruschetta, pasta carbonara, pork belly & sausage with roast potatoes, finishing off with a gorgeous peach cake (made by Elsa's mother). They have good draft beer & wine; I had the house white & it was excellent. It's a tiny place with tons of charm. Even as strangers we felt right at home. Highly recommended!

Energetic young chef with a real understanding of flavour. Very rarely will you find this kind of food at the price on offer. You won't be disappointed.
Vegetarian options: A delicious mushroom & spinach puff pastry with creamy potato and a tailored tapas style dish of peppers, olives, tomatoes, cheese etc. The chef literally asked what we'd like and built it with a twist of her own creativity. This is not the type of place you need to fill up on bread.

Hands down my favorite little Barcelos city center neighborhood bistro! The friendly & creative young chef/owner consistently delivers fresh, delicious offerings that keep me coming back for more. Just steps from the medieval tower and bustling Thursday market, it’s well worth seeking out. The menu changes frequently and is usually posted on social media, and embraces such traditional Portuguese fare as swoon-worthy tiny clams as well as unexpected treats like homemade guacamole and a weekly burger night (a “Japanese” burger adds smoked salmon; the French burger creamy Brie). Dinner is reasonably priced, and the daily lunch menu is a terrific deal. Be forewarned: Google maps will send you astray - look for Largo Lord Baden Powel 9A instead and the tiny park with the big red folk art statue that faces Gulli Bites.
