Last Sunday while passing near Beja, I decided to stop for dinner. After a few laps around the city where practically all the restaurants were closed, I finally found this famous restaurant open. Unfortunate moment. I entered, a slightly strange atmosphere, an eerie silence reigned. A table with a family, with children, parents and grandparents. Not even the little ones dared to make noise. There was also a couple who appeared to be foreigners but looked like they lived in the region. Anyway, as soon as we sat down they brought us the usual starters. The olives had a horrible smell. Well, I didn't care much about olives either. The cheese, I think it should have been fresh, was already yellow at the edges and appeared to have been cut since the morning. I tried it, I almost threw up. But, as I couldn't find anything open in the city and it was getting late I decided to order the dish. Hmmm, monkfish rice. I ordered it asking if it would take some time to make. I got the answer no, as I was half prepared. " what???" Half prepared????
Okay, come on the rice. It didn't take more than 5 or 6 minutes. A little on the plate and let's try it!!! Well, it had more salt than rice. I tasted the monkfish, it was mush as it completely fell apart. To be sure, I tasted the rice again. Well, the dsl was simply there to cover the sour taste of the rice. Where are you in control? Please close this establishment, you are putting people's health at risk. To finish. I asked for the bill, saying that it was just my feeling, not once or twice, even though I saw that I hadn't eaten, I billed it as such.
I refused to pay for the dish, I paid for the wine that I didn't drink, the bread that was left there and the cheese that ended up being urgently needed later.
I don't recommend it, avoid this establishment.
Poor quality food!
Very long list, and obviously with lists like this, food is frozen.
Entrecote, defrosted at the moment and of course without any type of flavor from the meat itself, grilled cod also defrosted at the moment and served with something similar to olive oil, in the land of olive oil, the best part of all this was still the migas, even though they were barely fried they had some flavor.

DO NOT EAT HERE
Me and my partner had Migas and Fish (Tamboril) Rice. The migas were outstanding, perhaps some of the best I’ve had. The fish rice meanwhile had a foul and odd flavour to it. My partner is not Portuguese and did not know how it was supposed to taste like, so she ate it instead of sending it back (when I tested it I knew right away something wasn’t good). Later that night she had the worst food poisoning she ever experience and just a couple forkfuls were enough to have my stomach turning around too.
Additionally the service charged me for two full portions instead of the half portions ordered.

It was a great show, I loved my dinner
Located in the center, very well located. Traditional food extremely well prepared. We ate pork cheeks, the meat was meltingly tender, buzios feijoada, delicious, and meat crumbs that were wonderful. We finished with a sericaia that was fresh. I highly recommend it.

It's worth eating traditional Alentejo food again. I liked it and have already repeated it, I advise anyone who passes through Beja not to pass by without trying it. There is a good parking lot next to the restaurant. Simple but well prepared food.

Good service, efficient and friendly, but the kitchen needs improvement. Preparation, flavor, temperature... Cold duck rice in the middle with undercooked giblets... all with a very dry, reheated air. Poor quality-price ratio.
