“At lunch time (13.40) the restaurant was almost completely packed on a Tuesday. The suggestion of the day was ‘feijocas’ (big white beans with meat). My wife loved it. I ate a tasty ‘bitoque de vitela’ with - what I guess - was a mustard sauce.“

“We were staying in the historic section of Belmonte and that afternoon we stopped at Fio de Azeite for a wine & a beer. We started chatting with the owner, Manuel. He's quite an interesting fellow and has many years experience in the restaurant business in various places around the world. The couple sitting behind us had just been served their lunch, a mixed grill platter. It looked so good that we decided to go back there later that evening for dinner. The mixed grill platter was delicious! The meats and shrimps were cooked perfectly. The side of thinly sliced home made potato chips were fantastic! The potato chips were in fact so good that the next night we took a walk and decided to go for a glass of wine and one bowl of those delicious chips. Well, we got to sitting around and chatting with Manuel again and before we knew it we were enjoying a few starters of bruscetta, a little fish salad on toasted bread slices, a full plate of grilled octopus with the spinach & roasted Potatoes and 2 bowls of those delicious potato chips!!! Dining out on the deck and spending time with our new friend was the perfectly delicious way to spend the evening.“

Laissez vous surprendre pas le « coup de klaxon » qui annonce les plats prêts de la cuisine ??
Petit point négatif, vous ne pourrez pas payer par cartes et les prix un peu poussés.

“The food is very well prepared, by hands that know what they are doing, even the salad is excellent. In a place like Sortelha I never thought I would eat one of the best octopus rice, well seasoned and perfectly cooked rice.
The bean rice very well done.
The decor is almost taken from a Harry Potter film.“

“Very simple restaurant with friendly service. Pleasant and not noisy environment. Very clean bathroom.We visited on a Wednesday and chose to eat roast chicken. It was served with a side of fries, rice and salad.It was my husband and I and we ordered 2 servings and found them to be quite generous.We've never eaten potatoes and rice at the same time, but I tried a spoonful of the rice to evaluate how well it was cooked and I really liked it, my husband didn't even try it. The potato was very tasty and not oily. The chicken was very tasty and juicy, but it should have had a lot less salt. The lettuce salad was very unpleasant, it had excessive vinegar. We love salad, but it was impossible to eat. Anyway, there was a lot of food left, including chicken.We drank Vinhas Velhas wine from Quinta dos Termos, which is an excellent wine and was at a good price.I didn't have dessert, but my husband really liked the homemade dessert.“

“We feel guilty.
We arrived to our reservation towards the end of an event in the gourmet hall of the restaurant. We were asked to please wait as the event was finishing and the guests were slow to leave. As we were waiting, our reservation time came and went. While waiting we were served wine, cheese and cured ham, free of charge. We were also served a fried appetiser, again free of charge. 20 minutes past our reservation time, we were invited into the gourmet hall. The event was over, but it was obvious the hall was not cleaned up yet. There, in a corner, a table for two was arranged for us.
During this, the wait staff was polite and apologizing for the delay and the circumstances. It was really no problem for us, the appetisers we were served while waiting was lovely, and them being free of charge was a nice surprise.
The food was very well presented and balanced. We had the classical gourmet menu. It consisted of a spread of cheese with fig jam, charcuterie, butters (mushroom and lemon variant) and olive oil. It was followed by mushroom soup, which was rich in flavors and not too heavy. The cod was salty and accompanied by a Portuguese chickpea puree and avocado salad, a lovely combination. The meat had a nice crust, a delicious sauce and vegetables with an acidic tang to them. Finishing up was "the chef's creation". It was a chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream and a popping suprise on top. Rich in flavors, not too heavy, and perfectly sweet.
When it was time for the bill, we actually felt guilty. We felt the meal and the experience was worth far more than we paid. The wait staff frequently checked up on us, the chef came out twice to speak with us, and the atmosphere, with only my partner and I in the whole hall, made the whole visit an experience we won't forget.

“We stopped here for lunch, again the word of the day is go early.We got there at 13:00 and they only had chicken ????The chicken was very nice ☺️I didn’t like much my baked potatoes and the French fries were of the frozen kind ????But overall the food was nice, and the price was fair.Staff was friendly and service was fast.We paid 9€ each for bread, olives, drinks, main dish, coffee and dessert.“
“I don't know what they're going to charge me because I'm waiting for the coffee. So my opinion could not be more objective as far as quality is concerned. Environment of 10: healthy and hard-working people. Meal of 10: very delicious grilled meats. Sparkling white wine: I repeated a carafe. Delicious. The girl who served is lovely. Helpful and doing everything possible to explain the different dishes to me despite being from Galicia and half understanding. He was wearing a t-shirt with the legend “staff.” With people like this Portugal never disappoints. If you visit the historic villages of Portugal, do your best to eat here.“

“Despite the first sensation of an area with little atmosphere, the quality of the homemade food is surprising, a welcome with an excellent homemade broth and a small plate of olives. Food of good quality, simple and traditional but with a touch of modernity.The place is cozy without frills but with taste and cleanliness.Certainly recommended.“

“Everything 5 stars. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, everything was very beautiful, clean, in order and the reception was fragrant. The restaurant is very beautiful and cozy, and the staff are kind and attentive. The fireplace in the middle of the room makes everything better. Try the starter breads, made right there. Everything was divine, olive oil, butter and the best olive pate I've ever tasted. We love the regional red wine and especially the dishes (angus and carré). Thank you so much for giving us such joy ♡“
