Little local gem. I inadvertently lost my wallet in a parking lot 50m away and the owners of Penalti miraculously tracked me down, and none of the cash was missing. Truly a gem of a place. Have patience when going there as all is home made, and enjoy the valley. Thanks a lot Patricio!! ??
Best meal we’ve had in Madeira! The owners son served us and explained all the salad and potatoes were from their own garden. I can totally believe it, it was all very tasty. Very generous with the portions too and went out of his way to ensure we had a great meal. A place that keeps it simple but excels in service and quality.

An Amazing atmosphere with some amazing food. Highly recommend stopping by if you have the chance.
Very tasty food, nice service, convenient location.
Charming family place with layed-back attitude and the most delicious charcoal oven grilled espetada!
Best place to taste regional espetadas. The owners took time to explain so much about Madeira. Everything is local, from the salad to the wine!
Super friendly owners, that cook simple, but very good home made dishes, with vegetarian options. The food is prepared and cooked when you order, making it a fresh dish and a tastier one.If you're around, stop here for a comfort meal.
Vegetarian options: You have a vegetarian omelete, with fries on the side, and also a dense vegetarian pizza with eggs, corn, cheese and tomato.
Family run business, very kind people and amazing food! Vegetables from their garden, traditionally cooked meat, home made rum, and great service. My boyfriend had meat and he was impressed. As an alternative to meat, I had omelette, sweet potatoes and vegetables which were very tasty as well. Highly recommended. Cash only.
We went there due to the very good reviews, but were very disappointed unfortunately. The lady owner is very nice indeed, but the food was very poor - we had espetada, a small picado and a marinara pizza, the meat was hard and tasteless, sauces out of cans or powder mixed (we sat next to the kitchen so we could see), fries and salad were ok, pizza was a disaster dough undercooked, way too much cheese, frozen ingredients put on it under the cheese so everything was watery… We come to Madeira a lot so went all sorts of places, I’ve never experienced something like this.

We came here in the dark (6:30pm) on a Sunday in November, so maybe not the best way to experience this little restaurant/cafe. The menu is limited, mostly chopped/skewered beef and pizzas - we fancied pizza and they were very tasty, lots of cheese and a thick base, certainly not italian-style (which was fine by us). Service was fine and price was very reasonable. There are parking spots outside, but it is on the bend so you may miss it coming up from Seixal.
The best place to have your meal, rising above all the touristic places around.Family cuisine, small menu but with quality food.Quality meat cooked on open grill.A must to go place on Madeira, far from the noise and mass tourism.
Fantastic beef laurel skewers (espetada) with delicious fries and the most amazing lime mousse for dessert. The potatoes and salad were grown by the family and taste delicious. The beef is top quality and local. If you are vegetarian they make an omelet and also homemade pizza. The family are really lovely and very welcoming. You are sat just next to a small vineyard with mountain views. It is next to a road( and local football pitch) so some traffic will pass. One of the most delicious meals we had on the island. Definitely recommended.
Really enjoyed dinner here. Beef skewers were so tasty... cooked over the wood fire with beautiful char crust. Excellent quality beef. Pizza is absolutely lovely with homemade dpugh and super cheesy with a beautiful bolognese. Under 30 euro for 2 to eat like kings. Family owned, friendly service, big smiles throughout. Nice to see them full on a Tuesday evening around 8 pm. Both French and English spoken very well. Highly recommend. One of our favorite meals after 10 days of travel in Portugal.
We had a beef skewer and a margarita pizza. Both were exceptional. Highly recommended. I’d come back to Madeira for this restaurant. Very warm and friendly staff, too.
