Restaurant only offers a daily special. It's very hearty, huge portions, simple and very reasonable but take it or leave it. Comes with soup which was excellent.
(Translated by Google) Very beautiful and very historic. For me, the most interesting thing is the architecture and history of construction and visiting the Castle enriched me with information. The Museum has weaponry, armor, decorations on display. Entrance 3€ (Feb/2022).(Original)Muito bonito e muito histórico. We found this place after visiting the whaling museum nearby. Yes, the decor may not be very appealing, but it's as local as it gets. I went for the dish of the day (prato do dia) which was porco alentejano - mix of pork and clams, which was delicious and incredibly cheap. My wife had a very good grilled cod. Wine was not the best, but also cheap. Would come back for the food.
We had dinner at the „O Moleiro“ recently and we were really happy with this place. Good food (veal steak and dusky grouper fish dish as main courses, draft beer), nice service and an authentic, local atmosphere (no knick-knack). The latter includes the fact that the appearance of the building may not strictly qualify as inviting to every visitor.
This is an example of the poor restaurant industry that exists in this Island (there’s few good exceptions)! If it doesn’t come from a can, plastic bag or microwaved before blasted in the deep fryer there’s no place in here. Keep away. The service is unwelcome, unfriendly and utterly unprofessional... it’s a pity in such beautiful island!
