We were warmly welcomed. The waiter showed us to our seats. Considering that it was a slow season and the restaurant was empty we had to wait for our food but when it came the food was good.

With a beautiful view over the beach to the Atlantic you can enjoy dining both inside & out. If you like seafood, this is a restaurant to put on your “To Do” list. A Boia has a menu of seafood & enhanced by “Specials” which is fresh from the sea that day. A comprehensive range of drinks are also available to accompany your meal. A Must For Seafood Lovers

Okay, so it was the only restaurant in town that was open on a Tuesday evening in December which is the off-season for Salema. However, given its high rating we were hopeful for a good experience. We were not disappointed. We had red snapper for two and it came with two sides. We chose potatoes and salad. The fish was grilled perfectly and it was more than enough for two. The waiter and his assistant were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. We chose a vinho verde to accompany the dinner and were not disappointed with the selection. Don’t let the name fool you. This is a quaint venue with awesome staff and wonderful food for a nice couples dinner.

We had an excellent meal. The two waiters were attentive and helpful. We ordered Piri Piri Chiken and Steak. The two meals were delicious with ample salad, potatoes and fries which we shared. The Panna Cotta was the best we have ever had. It is advisable to book. The view is magnificent.

Had lunch here after a hot morning touring the region. Spectacular setting right on the ocean, cool breeze coming in, efficient service with a smile, ambient music, tomato sauce mussels absolutely delicious and nice cold drinks. What more could I say? We loved it!

The hostess told us that they were completely full but I went back to the restaurant and asked if I could put my name on the wait list. The hostess said the wait would be about an hour and half. The third time I went back to ask what time I should come back to the restaurant since I wanted to be there before the table would be ready, she told me that time, to come back in a half hour. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Our waitress was excellent. She was so helpful with every aspect of our meal. From what wine to choose for our meal, to what was good on the menu. The tuna (with potatoes and vegetables on the side) and the traditional Portuguese fish dish were very tasty. We enjoyed each part of our meal from the bread, olives & cheese to the dinner itself. Is it the habit of waiters in Portugal to wait a bit before handing you the bill? We have noticed that at all the restaurants that we have gone to. That is the only time we needed to ask our waitress for anything. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The service was awful, Rude. Our food took 1 1/2 hours. WIth a child who was hungry waiting for fries which were slice potatoes in oil. The same with the "fried shrimp". The mussles weren´t all cooked. Everything was way over priced. I tipped the waitress generously anyway, but will never recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful setting, ambient music, excellent food (sea bream & tiger prawns). Joanna served us efficiently, accommodating my pickiness with the wine. Busy place, booking necessary.

Turned up for lunch without a reservation? No problem, shown straight to a table with an amazing view Staff were straight in with menus and drinks order. Water and wine ordered. Onto food. Fresh oysters and veg soup to start. Prawns and rice with piri piri and tuna steak for mains. All were delicious Wouldn’t hesitate to return

After coming to Salema for over 30 years I decided to take my partner to A Boia. I can only speak from my experience. I ordered Peri Peri chicken which was supposed to be half a chicken. We both ordered a portion of chips separately to go with our meal my partner ordered a grilled sardines and a salad .My chicken come out and it was the smallest chicken I have ever seen there was no breast. There was a bit of leg quarter cut and dressed to look like a breast, but ultimately it had bone in. I was not happy as we ordered two portions of chips. They came served it in one small bowl we were advised that’s for both of us. Nevertheless we were dissatisfied and at no point was we asked were we happy with our meal. We raised this with the waitress and were provided with an extra bowl of chips my partner was very happy with her sardines however I could not let this lie. I raise my concerns with the waiter / head chef and advised him of my feedback and what could be improved. He did seem to take this on board and foc my part of meal. Comparing the size of dish to others seated on the table next to me, I could see the portion size of the ribs was great, but in comparison to my chicken, it resembled the size of a anorexic pigeon. I always liked this restaurant due to its generous portion sizes, and view . However, it seems in today’s culture. Everything is getting smaller and more expensive however, to maintain a competitive edge they need to up their game. Having read the responses from the restaurant to other unhappy customers, you would be forgiven for thinking this is Amy's Baking Company. Unfortunately won’t be coming back . One more bit of advice butterfly the chicken and cut in half. Customers are not babies we don’t need our food cut into small pieces plus we get to see half a chicken

We have been regular clients of this restaurant for the past 3 years, where we have enjoyed each dining experience aligned with a great service. Unfortunately, this last time led us to the decision that we won't be returning. Upon trying to book a table, the interaction with the manager was quite frustrating and conveyed a sense of annoyance with our presence, making us feel unwelcome as the decision on not having a table was made before the reservation book was checked. Despite our careful consideration of Boia in the past, this encounter has led us to the decision that we won't be returning. I believe in giving feedback to help improve experiences. I hope this input is valuable for maintaining the standards you're known for. However, based on this experience, it's unlikely we'll be visiting again.

Staying Luz we ventured over to Salema for a beach day. After a thoroughly enjoyable day we walked to A Boia for our second dinner of our Portuguese experience. The Tuna special was fantastic. The squid awesome as well. I never dared to have squid, but the garlic sauce and the grilling were perfect. My daughter got the ribs of all things, but wow, were they ever good!

Went for the catch of the day. Considering what you get for it, which is extremely basic, it seems way too overpriced. Considering you can get Michelin style (rated, not stared) restaurants and dishes for these prices but don’t get that at all here. Maybe the other dishes on the menu are a better value. Considering we spent close to 100 euro for two and we had a lower bill in a Michelin rated (not yet stared) restaurant elsewhere, we see this here as low value. Same goes for the lobster, we enjoyed true modern cuisine for 20% less elsewhere. This didn’t come close.

Enjoyed our lunch with a lovely view of the beach. We both had grilled sardines, which were delicious. Friendly staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

The food was good at reasonable price , however nothing special. One Lady from the staff was really friendly and offered us different seating as some britisch guests were smoking next to us. In general the guest were quite impolite not waiting to be seated e.g.
