Try this place out - really worth it. Nice atmosphere and beautiful food + drinks. We had the scabbard sandwich, avocado shrimp salad, and ceviche. Drinks were fab too!
We walked 4 kms, through the tunnel and along raging waves, to find Câmara de Lobos. For years we have called it “the fishing village”. Now that we discovered Minerva, I guess we will now call the town Câmara de Lobos. To us, it puts this sleepy little village on the map. We stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful feast, while overlooking the vibrant small harbour. We had ordered a Croque Madame (unbelievable), Beterraba, Requeijão, Avelã, Mel & Mostarda (beetroot plate), a large draft along with a smaller one. The food was amazing. The beer refreshing on a warm afternoon. Service was friendly and accommodating. Simply put, we loved it. You don’t have to walk 4 kms to get here, there are other ways to accomplish this voyage. We will return.
Drop in at lunchtime tired and weary after a mornings long walk around Funchal. Firstly order 2 pints, thirst quenching and delicious. We decided to share a starter of Beetroot, Cottage Cheese, Hazelnut, Honey & Mustard. This dish was devine, thoroughly sublime. We booked a 7pm Dinner reservation. Dinner was 2 x Beetroot salad as starters, again delicious. I ordered Terrine of Marinated Pork, a cold dish, but very tasty. My wife ordered Black Scabbardfish Sandwich, which was a fish burger, again delicious. Food is 100%, service is professional, courteous and friendly. Venue is the best. We had 2 bottles of sparkling white wine to accompany the meal. This is a must visit venue. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
We had fish sandwich and beef bits with miso. Both was amazing, both melted in mouth. Also, location in very nice, with ocean view. Staff is friendly and polite. 10/10
It’s a cute little place but the food was not as special as what we expected from other reviews. Very small portions at quite high prices.
Guys if you are around you can’t miss it! This is the place. Small menu but all fresh and with great taste. Honestly one of the best places I ate in my trips. Maybe the best. Also the service is great and is situated in a special corner with a fantastic view on the bay of Camara de Lobos. Dish I loved the most the tuna, the eggplants and the scabbard sandwich. Great also the drinks…. Price quality ratio at the top. Do not miss it
We spent 10 days in Madeira, travelling all around the island and probably Minerva was the best place we have tried. They are young and brave with experimentation, but at the same time aware of traditional portuguese dishes and flavours. Part of the experience was the kitchen at sight: looking them cooking was great!
what a gem, surprising menu, but everything was delicious, starter, fish, meat and desserts. It is a pity we discovered this restaurant on our last evening, I would have loved to go back.
A special place, a full ten, everything great. We ate the vegetarian options and they were delicious
Lovely little hidden Gem that we’ve previously overlooked during our many visits to the island. Good food and lovely view over the harbour
Restaurantji Recommends
cozy place overlooking the harbour. kind and professional service. few courses but made with care and of excellent quality. the price is also excellent
This is a great place in Camara de Lobos. Great food and quick service
We found the menu more inline with a light lunch rather than the evening meal we anticipated. Food was good, servers welcoming.
One of our favorite restaurants. This is our third visit and will not be our last. I highly recommend when in Camara de Lobos, a must visit.
Incredible food, great service and a beautiful view! I would 100% recommend Minerva. If you want to make sure to get a spot outside I’d recommend booking a table in advance
Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options. The aubergine with miso was amazing
