“We bought coffee and fresh buns here every morning during our stay. They have a fantastic bakery selection at good prices – we ate way too many of their pasteis de nata ? The coffee was delicious too. I believe an Americano is known as a ‘Chino’ on the island. The staff are very friendly despite it being such a busy local spot. We miss this bakery very much. Thank you!”

“We went all around the island and we could not stop talking about this place. The cappuccino is perfect here and the Bolo de Caco is the best we had on the whole island. We also had limpets and chicken. The limpets were fantastic. This place was awesome and will be such a good memory for us, the staff was very nice and its the perfect place for lunch after a morning sunrise hike.”
“The French name because the owner was in France, ideal place for those who like to drink beer and a glass of wine with appetizers to accompany. With music on weekends.”

“Friendly staff who quickly brought drinks and took the orders, the food tasted very tasty. The only negative point when we wanted to pay was that there was suddenly no service to be found and we had to wait a bit before we could pay.”

“We were advised at A Traineira (Caniço de Baixo) and we are completely satisfied.
The bolo do caco at the beginning fresh from the wood-fired oven together with our traditional Poncha was divine. Then the picanha accompanied by 2 risottos (onion, beans and chorizo) was the highlight. We ordered it rare to our liking and it arrived that way. Then, at the end, the mousse clearly made in-house with hazelnuts on top was perfect, not to mention the always attentive service. I highly recommend it!”

“"Taberna do petisco" is a culinary gem that merits the attention of every discerning gourmet. From the very first bite, it is evident that the dishes are crafted with meticulous care and passion. The house specialties are nothing short of extraordinary—each offering is a harmonious blend of flavors, transforming every meal into a memorable experience.
The service at "Taberna do petisco" is exemplary. The staff is not only courteous but also remarkably attentive, remembering their patrons and adding a personal touch that enhances the dining experience. Notably, despite the absence of a tip on the first day, we were met with the same warmth and attentiveness on our return, a testament to their unwavering commitment to hospitality.
While the staff's proficiency in English may be limited, communication and ordering pose no difficulty. It is clear that at "Taberna do petisco," the universal language of exquisite cuisine is spoken fluently, with taste as the primary medium of expression.
A particularly commendable aspect of this establishment is the exceptional price-to-quality ratio. The prices are moderate, yet the quality of the food far surpasses what one might expect, offering superb value for money. The dishes are sure to impress even the most exacting of palates.
In conclusion, "Taberna do petisco" is a place I unreservedly recommend. Its unforgettable flavors, impeccable service, and inviting atmosphere make it a destination to which I will undoubtedly return.”

“Good place for tapas and wine. Good choices of red and white, tapas, cheese and sausage boards. I recommend staying on the top floor, more relaxed. They could update the decor and comfort, but it's still a good place.”

“Top ! The unmissable Machico ice cream parlor very close to the central square and on the way to the beach or after a hike. Service with a smile. The flavors are delicious and the balls are huge! Even though we were good eaters, we had trouble getting through the second one. Special mention for the chocolate. Good value for money. A shaded terrace allows you to enjoy while seated.”
