“We were here in Capelas 10 days. On the fifth day we discovered this inconspicuous restaurant. We haven't eaten something so good and cheap for a long time.
No matter whether it's meat, fish or pizza, it's easy to put in. Don't let the visuals fool you, the food is awesome, the service is super friendly and the price is unbeatable“

“My husband & friend really enjoyed the Francesinha sandwich. Fries were tasty. Grilled chicken was tasty though like many restaurants on Sao Miguel, they seem to use a lot of salt - at least for my taste. My husband doesn't agree with me. Very friendly service from the hardworking bartender (perhaps owner) who took our order and served the food. Nice view if you get a window seat. Pleasant ambiance.“

“We hadn't booked but they got us a table, super staff! The food is nothing to envy of anyone, one of the best octopuses I have eaten. Everything fresh and delicious. Quick to serve and we will definitely be back! Excellent prices for the quality of the food“

“Four days of my holidays in Ponta Delgada I have been to many restaurants with high rates, above 4,7. Waited in a queue for 30 min in each especially during the dinner time. And on the 4th day I found this snack bar Apito Dourado. I took tuna steak two time, soups of the day. Everything was very delicious. And the service was excellent. I have been there 3 times since then and always found a spot to sit. Highly recommend this place!“

“The staff is very friendly and accommodating and always has a smile on their faces. The food was very attractively prepared and also tasted very good. The portions are very large, so it's tight with just one starter, but the price is still reasonable.
The toilets are very clean, as is everything else. Highly recommended! However, you have to reserve early enough as it is often fully booked.“

“One of the best steaks I ever tried, so yummy ?.
We also tried the garlic bread and lapas, both delicious.
Quality price, very generous.
Strongly recommend.
They don't accept table reservations, the waiting time can be long but worth it.“
“Chose this restaurant for our first night in the area (always a good test!) and we were not disappointed. Lovely friendly welcome, great setting out on the terrace, perched on a Cliffside and some lovely fresh pink to get the evening off to a start. The fish was delicious and we were all delighted with the dishes and flavours. Definitely worth booking to get a nice table.“

“One of the best experiences we had on Sao Miguel. The food was amazing and the service was excellent, especially considering this is kind of a school/training restaurant.
The dishes could have been served in a fine dining restaurant as well but were super affordable/reasonable priced. Three courses for 2 persons and a bottle of water & bottle of wine for 60€.
Definitely a hidden diamond, it is a little off the standard route around the harbour. Totally recommend!“

“MEAL AS A COUPLE: VERY GOOD
A la carte food: moderate price, great quality and friendliness of the boss.
We recommend battlements, octopus, cod tuna, the carmes better on Sunday
FOOD IN TOURIST GROUP: PRETTY BAD
Vegetable soup, and pork buffet accompanied by white rice, potatoes and pasta with salad. All well washed down with white or red wine. They don't have coffee despite having a coffee maker.“
“On the ground floor of the Acores Atlântico 5 hotel ⭐️A piano bar with a lounge atmosphere, very good musicians, good cocktails and other alcohols. It is also a restaurant, with late service, and very good value for money and careful service.“

“This is the edge of the tourism sector. Locally owned and operated, we enjoy it for the kindness, service and delicious meals.
Many tourists miss out which is a missed place on their bingo card. We come for calm, kind, peaceful dinning.
I can compare their steaks/carne (lombo de vaca) to the special aged steaks costing 4 times the price.
A VERY BIG local favorite. Reservations highly recommended during high season. Like many places. They may look empty, but are completely reserved for the evening.
Tonight 2 entrees, 3 glasses of wine between 2 people (not each) and dessert undert 60 euro.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is parking nearby, one step and staff is happy to help.“

“We went because of the good reviews, and while we were waiting for the food, the truth was that people only came in wanting to make reservations for lunch or dinner.
We ordered fries - mistake and the octopus - delicious and very good relationship between quantity, quality and price.
Of course...it should be noted that we were one of the first to eat there that day and we saw a large flying cockroach walking across the floor...shortly after...one grazed my partner on the leg...and now...we didn't eat completely calm...somewhat on alert...even so what was said...but to repeat...I have my doubts“

“An all you can eat? At the buffet? So ugly inside? Clearly made for passing tourists? How good could it ever be? And instead it's a bomb. Arroz do Pato (Portuguese duck and chorizo rice) outrageously good. The stewed lamb is also notable. Overall excellent food, excellent desserts. 20 euros each well spent. Be careful not to eat too much (it makes you want to) because then you have to walk!“

“We had a wonderful dinner at Casa Nostra. We chose a la carte and had the homemade ravioli, pulpo and sirloin steak. Everything was very delicious and beautifully presented.
The dessert was also very nice, but for my taste it was lacking the pear flavor.
The service was friendly and the restaurant inside was beautiful. We sat outside in the small back terrace which was nice just the floor was very wet from the air conditioner.
I would recommend to make a reservation to sit inside.
Dietary restrictions: They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions which was great!“

Interior innovative
Innovative food
We were unlucky with the service, the girl probably had a bad day or was unfortunately not suitable
Would I eat there again? Yes, the atmosphere and food were good, service can vary...“

“Both the starters, the lasagna, the tagliatelli with 4 Azorean cheeses, and the Caesar salad were delicious.
To finish we ordered a dessert of each and they were great, especially the grilled pineapple.
If it weren't for the fact that we have an early flight tomorrow, we would return for sure.“

“Excellent restaurant typical of the Azores and Portugal! The atmosphere is very friendly and the cuisine is simple but excellent! The only (small) downside is that the service time is a little long but we are not in a hurry, we are on vacation!? We really recommend this place!!??“

“A week ago, we visited this restaurant and I highly recommend going here for halibut. Very well prepared and, most importantly, a huge portion of fish. The additions are also tasty, but there could be a bit more of them.
The service was very nice, but I have a small reservation about it.
Namely, when I came back from the toilet, I saw that on the table we had appetizers, bread, olives and cheese. The girl said that the waiter simply brought it to us and we treated it as an appetizer, which is at the expense of the restaurant (because some places serve such appetizers). Next time it's worth saying that it will have to be paid because it happened to be students ;)
Nevertheless, olives and cheese are very good :)“

“THE BEST RESTAURANT ON THE ISLAND
Quality, I went with my girlfriend and they treated us like real kings, great fish, incredible wine and very good desserts
If you come to Sao Miguel, a mandatory stop
Thanks for the shot!!!“
“+ Good and reasonable prices
+ Tasty food
+ Enough food (you will be full afterwards)
+ Friendly staff
+ They accidentelly gave me frensh fries and rice instead of salad and rise. When I mentioned it, they gave me a salad without discussion.
+ It's not too touristic, which made the atmosphere a bit more calm.
+ Good and close oportunity after the visit in the cave.“
“We ate here unexpectedly because our flight was canceled and we ended up in a nearby hotel. The place is cool, has a very modern vibe. The wine selection was good. We had the catch of the day and a steak, both were prepared well and had good flavor. Really nothing to complain about here.“

“Have a nice evening. The two of us took 4 starters, a main course and a dessert so that we could share each selection. All the fish were perfect (cooking and preparation).
Beautiful wine list with a large selection of Azores wines (including 4 available by the glass).“

“Ate very well, the fish was excellent and fresh. However, at the time of the bill we noticed that we had been given an unsolicited entrée, which we thought was a gift from the house; the bottle of wine arrived already open, we would have preferred to see it opened at the table. It's a shame because it is a very valid and characteristic place“

“We were headed toward another restaurant that was in all the guide books but walked by and liked the vibe here. Two menus awaited, one more Asian inspired and the other more in line with European cuisine. Three appetizers, three entrees, and one dessert later there was no question of the rightness of our serendipitous choice. Great atmosphere, professional service, and the best meal of our trip. No photos because we were enjoying the experience too much to pull out the phones. Bravo“

“We highly recommend this place!!! One of the best restaurants we have ever eaten in... at all... we did not expect cuisine of this level in the Azores. Congratulations to the owners for their taste, enthusiasm for work and perfect service...

“Loved this restaurant. My wife and I had the seafood pasta and regional steak and both were very flavourful. The steamed side salad that came with the steak wasn’t our thing but that was ok given the size of the mains. We also liked the relaxed feel of the place and lovely waiter who was both friendly and funny! Only other feedback would be to consider updating your google opening hours as we were lucky you were open on Monday when google said you were closed.“

“We visited the grotto next door and that's when we noticed the restaurant. The food was very tasty...luckily we were there early, because later on the service was a bit slow due to the long distances. Each waiter had to bring their own drinks, which also delayed the service.
But all in all, we ate and drank very well for little money by German standards.?“

“Back in 2024 and I maintain the opinion left below in 2023!!! (Reservation recommended by the manager depending on the days to enter ?)
Very good typical restaurant which doesn't look like much from the outside, efficient staff, well-stocked dishes (fish)!
Parking: Parking across the road from the restaurant“

“I don't know if there is a better restaurant on the island, for me I tried the best one, being Galician and having Portugal on the other side of the border, I can't be anything more than a lover of the brother country, of its cod, of its customs. , and of the hundreds of times I ate it in continental Portugal, Madeira and this one in Açores, without a doubt the best. Point and aside to rate a qualified, professional service, and 10 out of 10, the atmosphere is also unbeatable, background music, a bright place, integrated with a lot of vegetation, fresh and very modern, truly unsurpassed.
Parking: Parking within the establishment itself“

“Visited this place for dinner and ordered grilled limpets and grilled octopus with a glass of white wine. All was tasty and portions were decent. The whole thing came to 37 Euros. Friendly staff too. I recommend it but may require reservations during busy hours.“
“It was a great experience! Both food and entertainment wise. Food; we ordered bacahau and octopus to share. They were almost perfect. The cod portion was large and thick; was well prepared making it freaky and soft while the octopus was tasty and yet not salty was tender even the tentacles weren't chewey. Both were very well done. Prior to the main dishes guests were treated with tasty bread with cheeses and fig jam. Those were good too. And to sum up, we were served with desserts and coffee. Excellent food experience. For entertainment, guests were entertained by a local couple engaging artists explaining everything from the Portugese guitar s they use to the Fado songs they sung. The entertainment was more than an hour and satisfying all your feelings and senses. All in all, it was a total entertainment experience and everyone there was almost sad to leave. Wonderful!!“

“The service is unbeatable, the pork rinds are super good and the blackmouth fish are great. The chef's casserole with clams is highly recommended. We went for dinner, I recommend booking because maybe they won't get a table otherwise.“
“Wine & tapas is a space with enormous potential, excellent service and fantastic prices. The atmosphere is not typical of a space of the same type, but the staff is very attentive. The food on offer is fast food, don't expect typical tapas because they don't exist. It is a place with an interesting decor, well located and an opportunity/solution for those who need to eat outside of normal hours“
“Advance reservation.
First of all. Magma is the restaurant of the Senhora Da Rosa hotel. We had a hard time finding the entrance to the restaurant because we couldn't see the sign.
We decided on the 4-course tasting menu (€45) and the 5-course tasting menu (€55) and a wine tasting with each dish (€25).
We started with a black pudding croquette as a starter, followed by a pineapple ravioli with shrimp, a regional fish tartar, risotto with another regional fish (veja fish), a piece of beef on mashed sweet potato (I think it was sweet potato) and carrot and we finish with a scoop of ice cream with pineapple, on a Gorreana Tea cookie.
Everything was delicious, the price of good cuisine is worth paying and the Alfonsos duo made our dinner very pleasant!“

“The desserts were absolutely awesome (Oreo mousse and passionfruit cheesecake)
The Sunset burger was good. The bun was nothing special and quite dry. Very special sauces are served but I liked them.
Since it’s directly located on the beach with lots of people it can get quite loud.“

“You will need to book in advance to get a place at this small but unbelievable restaurant.
Very cosy and well decorated with nice atmosphere.
The staff is very professional and the service is quick! The food is amazing and you can tell it is presented with care and delicacy however it is a bit expensive.
There is no bottles on the table...and there is a huge variety of wines to choose from. Prepare to spend money on this "department" if you enjoy wine!
This is not a common restaurant and you will find that.
For one off experience is 09/10.“

“Since all the restaurants we actually wanted to go to were fully booked, we ended up at Balcony Restaurant.
It had the impression that we didn't correspond to the clientele that usually comes there.
The food was very good. The price is high but ok. The service too, but was very stiff and impersonal. The atmosphere is cool, not for a cozy evening with a glass of wine“

“I give this restaurant five stars for the pleasant experience it gave us on the eve of the "white night" in Ponta Delgada.
We arrived early, being the first customers to be served. We opted for fish soup and cataplana, also with fish.
Everything was great, almost without salt, which allows me to taste the ingredients better.
It's rare for a restaurant to be able to captivate customers so much without using salt! We really liked it and tried to remain loyal to the restaurant, returning the following night, after touring the island.
But we arrived later, it was around nine thirty. We were refused entry because it was already late.
We went to another restaurant where we were lucky enough to be greeted warmly.
Today we didn't even consider going back!
Furthermore, we learned that most restaurants close early! And this is incomprehensible! Portugal is a country that must know how to respect tourists, both Portuguese and foreign!
We can discover that in Spain, almost next door, they have competitive prices and are well received!
Personally, I like going there and I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't consider more trips to the land of our "brothers"...“

“After having several negative experiences with restaurants in Ponta Delgada, we were recommended to come here. The truth is that it was a complete success. A pleasant atmosphere, quick service from the waiters and exquisite food.
You must get on the list to be able to dine, they do not reserve a table. We were looking forward to trying the octopus and fried cod, as it was late they didn't have any left, so go early.“
